Greetings!
Well, welcome back to tour. I got pretty pitiful about writing these last time around, so I'm going to do what I can to be better. This tour's going to be a little different from the last one. Not only do we have new people (welcome Lisa, David, Marilyn & Alan!) but our set-up's quite different. No more week long sit-downs and flying everywhere. Nope, this is a 1-nighter. We'll have a couple of split-weeks (3 or 4 nights in one place) but most of the time we're traveling after every show. And when I say after shows, I mean it literally...we're traveling on the crew bus. There's only 10 of us total, so we'll all be traveling together on one bus. It's a sleeper bus with bunks, and lounges in the front and back. We'll travel through the night, after the crew loads out, and enjoy hotel rooms during the day. It's going to be quite the experience...so stay tuned...
Rehearsals were great. Lisa and David (our new Signe and Pastor) have both done the show before, so this was more about brushing-up blocking and figuring out each other's rhythms. Meaning we found plenty of time to play, including seeing "Away In A Basement" (the CBL Christmas show...aka CBL 3 or the sequel to CBL 1), enjoying a home-cooked dinner at Scott's house (thanks Scott!! The chili was amazing...) and a wonderful New Year's Eve and New Year's Day OFF!! We spent NYE at the lovely Nicolette Island Inn with Curt and his wife Jane. I got a surprise visit with their daughter, Lexie, who I did Chritmas Carol with back in 2005. It was a spectacular night.
Just have to take a brief moment to mention how FRIGGIN COLD it is here. We're lucky if it's above ZERO. Once you add in windchill...it's just brutal. Down to almost -30. As someone who hates the cold, I'm going to do what I can to remember this feeling and hopefully never complain about being cold again!!!
Left Minneapolis this morning after a field trip to the St. Paul Curling Club... this is something I've been excited about for months. Back in July I wore Curt's letter jacket from high school and ever since we've joked that we should start a culring team. With the Olympics coming up, I'm getting ready!! So Curt, Karen & I went to the curling club to observe the sport and buy sweatshirts for the bus. The characters at this place were unreal. It's mostly men (with a few hard-core women) over 50 who have been playing forever and get VERY serious about their play. Our new friends Bud and Joanie took time out of ther games to help us understand what was going on. It's an experience I won't forget soon.
Opening tomorrow. On the bus starting Friday. The adventure has begun...
Enjoy!

Jeff At least you got to leave this winter wonderland. We have to survive the entire season, huddled around our woodburning stoves in our sod homes, keeping the wolves away from the door, and living off of the last of our Venison and Buffalo ......
