Greetings!
So, clearly I have been terrible about writing on here. I've been doing what I can to at least keep up wit pictures, videos, etc...but we have been logging so many miles on the bus that we get to the hotel at the end of the day and I am beat! So...I'm going to do what I can to do a VERY brief recap of the past month. Only the highlights here, folks...
After a week in the North (Dakotas, Wisconsin, Minnesota) we dorve - yup, drove - to Florida. Spent a great long weekend in Naples where we celebrated our 100th performance (!!). Hard to believe we've been out for so long...actually, maybe not so hard to believe... Our parent company, PEG (Prather Entertainment Group) has its home base in Ft. Myers, FL at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater. After a 5-show weekend we had a day off and had a huge party at the Bway Palm, with our producers and the casts of their current main stage & off-broadway shows. Much needed and much appreciated! Prathers is also a very small community, and we knew most of the people at the party. REALLY small world...
From there we flew (phew) back up North into Minneapolis. Went to the Mall of America, saw the war zone that is Fargo, ND (and saw my great friend and former musical director Jo Marie!), and I saw Montana for the first time. Now, Montana is an interesting place. It is one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been. That is, the country side. Our first town was Billings and it was a pretty cute place. But our second stop was Butte...and it was one of the worst eye sores I've ever seen. It was also LITTERED with tiny casinos. I think my favorite was "Suds & Fun: Laundramat & Casino". No joke. Every other store front is a tiny, tacky, smokey casino. This is no Vegas or Foxwoods. Picture your worst image of a casino...then make it tackier and dirtier...and you're starting to get the right idea...gross!!
The next week was one stunning place after another: Salem, OR - Sacramento & San luis Obispo, CA - Bremerton, WA. Stunning towns. Breathtaking drives. Just one gorgeous thing after another. And in Salem I had a college friend's parents take me out for the day and take me up into the wine country. I was beyond spoiled for the day!
We are currently in the inal week on the bus. Yay!! It has been quite week. Over 1200 miles logged in 2 days, but trips to 4-Corners National Park, Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. Might not have made it to Mt. Rushmore, but the rest has been incredible. We now have 1 full show left...that's it!! Starting on Wednesday we'll be in Spaks, NV for a week and a half doing a 90-minute version. It's going to be like a paid vacation...once we actually learn the new version...
Alright, and now we're up to date. It's been quite a whirlwind...so close to the end! Flying back to NYC two weeks from today. I've seen incredible sights and played some wonderful theaters, but I am going to be VERY happy to get back to the city. Talk about homesick...
Also just uploaded a whole lot of pictures and a couple of videos.
Enjoy!
