Greetings!
Thousand Oaks is a glorious theater. It is huge, beautiful...the backstage is one big maze. It has taken us a couple of days to walk around back there and not get lost! The audiences here are little different than what we're used to. The houses are packed but silent. I think that since we're outside of LA we're getting people that are used to theater and entertainment but it takes more to impress them.
Spent the day yesterday with my good friend Mindy...what a great day! We started by having breakfast at More Than Waffles, a restaurant owned by friends of Mindy's husband. This was one of the better meals I've had in a very long time. If you are every in LA GO TO THIS RESTAURANT: www.morethanwaffles.com/ When Mindy found out this was my first time in LA she went out of her way to drive me around and show me various studios. I turned into such a tourist! Sadly my camera died part way through...but it was incredible. After driving to see her apartment (which is gorgeous...congrats Mindy!) I went with her to an agent meeting. My first time in LA and I went to an agent's office! This is a sign of things to come... ;) Finished the day way some amazing sushi before the show. Thanks for a great day, Mindy!!
So, I find LA an interesting place. First of all, it's much more beautiful than I was expecting. You spend most of your time in a car, but you have this backdrop of mountains, which makes the commuting not nearly so bad. You HAVE to drive everywhere, but there's very little parking to be found. Mindy seemed to know the location of every parking garage in the city. After living in NYC and having a great public transit system this was a little bit of shock to my system. What I find most interesting about LA is that since so many people here are famous, people are always looking at you to see if you're someone. Especially if you're wearing sunglasses. Mindy and I were given more looks...I mean, people were REALLY looking at us. Trying to figure out if they were looking at someone famous. It was very surreal...
Didn't get as many pictures as I'd like since my camera died...but here's what I did get...
Enjoy!
