Hey all, defo time for an update I think!
In January Emma moved to Melbourne for a few months but she is coming back up to the Gold Coast for my birthday and then we are going to travel north together for a few weeks. So, we had to move out of our fabby apartment. I was a little bit homeless for a couple of weeks and was couch surfing at a few mates houses until I eventually found somewhere to live. I now live in Southport, 5 mins from Surfers, with two aussie boys and its a lovely house. Boys are really good fun and they threw me a moving in party on my first weekend there. One of the guys is gonna teach me how to surf - can't wait!
I now work at a brand new Karaoke bar in Surfers and it is amazing! I basically get paid to sing, party with the customers and I am even allowed to drink with them too - could be my perfect job! I'm looking for a second job at the moment so that I can save lots of money for the rest of my trip. I also need to pay for the car that I've hired, I love it. Can't stop driving everywhere! I didn't plan to stay on the Gold Coast for so long but I love it here and am really happy. I've seen alot of Australia already and I still have a few places I want to see before I leave for New Zealand.
Now that I'm settled and have a car I plan to do lots of touristy things. Last week me and a mate went to Tambourine Mountain for the day to explore and see some sights. We are gonna head back up again as there is so much to see and do there. We took a little picnic with us and drove around the mountain. We then went to see the glow worms - wow! We didn't realise that glow worms are actually like little insects, they look like a smaller daddy long legs! Their body produces something that makes their bum glow in the dark and the female adult only lives for 48 hours. Guess what she does for 30 of those hours???? She makes babies! We visited a man made cave which was specifically designed as a home for glow worms so that the public could see them and learn about them. The cave was pitch black and we had to wear glow sticks around our necks so we could see each other, was a little scary! The cave was gorgeous, the glow worms looked like little stars in the sky. Would definitely recommend a visit there, was fascinating. Unfortunately you can't take photos of the glow worms as they are sensitive to light and wouldn't glow, but I managed to take some photos in the actual cave before we saw the glow worms.
Weather is still glorious. It tends to be around 35 degrees every day now and at night its around 30! Love it but am missing the snow at home - have a sledge for me please!
