I'm back in Surfers!! Woohoo, it's amazing. Left Perth on Sunday and arrived here around 10.30pm. Stepped off the plane and it was toasting! Checked into my lovely hotel and then tried to get a good nights kip - which was hard as I was a little over excited!
Woke up the next day to gorgeous views over the beach and got ready to meet Emma, (the girl I was telling you about). She is lovely and we both got on really well and chatted constantly. We headed straight to the pub in the early afternoon and ended up staying there till quite late!
On the second day we tried to find some accommodation. We sent emails and went into a few estate agents. Viewed a few apartments and put in an application for a gorgeous one ten minutes from the beach. We then headed back to the pub for a few more drinkies and guess what???? The estate agent phoned and we got the apartment. How fab! So we had to order some champagne to celebrate. Make that two bottles. We then went out for tea to a lovely Chinese restaurant and were a little tipsy. We had nearly finished when we saw some guys from the other side of the restaurant looking at us and talking to the waiter. Oh my god - guess what happened next????? The waiter came over and said that 'the lovely gentlemen from the corner' would like to buy us dessert. We would rather have had a drink but that wasn't on offer! So we ordered some dessert and then the waiter came over again with two bits of paper. One with the blokes numbers on it and the other one saying we should text them. How embarrassing!!! If they were hot then we so wouldn't have minded but they were a little old and looked a little dodgy!!! We then wrote them a note back thanking them for dessert and explained that we had had too much alcohol to go out with them. We didn't want to put our own names on so we made up some - Ruby and Jess, hee hee hee hee hee! As the waiter took the note over we ran away giggling. What a laugh!
Today we went to the estate agents to sign papers and collect our keys, which was a bit of a palava, but we got it done. We are booked into the hotel I am staying in for the night so won't be moving our stuff in until tomorrow. We are actually going up to Brisbane tomorrow for a couple of nights so won't have our first night in our new wee hoose until Saturday night. We can't wait! Will take lots of photos and put them on my blog on Sunday for you all to see. Will update you when we are back - Ruby and Jess x
Well its now nearly the end of October and thats me been away for three months now. Feels like much longer though. All is good over here in sunny Surfers! Just taking it easy and chilling out. Had a few good nights out so far and it is wild here. As soon as we step into a pub we get swarmed by guys offering to buy us drinks, its ace! Good cheap nights out for us!! Everyone is so friendly here and we always meet so many new people on a night out.The clubs we have been to so far are fab. We have one called the bedroom that has lots of massive luxurious beds for you to chill on. There are loads of pubs here and loads of clubs. Definitely a party place! Music is very different depending on where you go. Lots of live bands playing the good old classics and then there is always a bit of cheesy pop later on. Dancing is quite hard though - you never get chance to dance on your own. Guys just grab you and swing you around as soon as you hit the dance floor. Honestly - its unbelievable how many guys there are here. The last three weekends we have had ace nights out as we have met guys here on footy trips and they just get the drinks in all night - hee hee. That never happens at home!! Will put photos up soon, just need to get a new pen drive first.
We went to Movie World the other day which is a big theme park. It was a great day with some ace rides. We loved the Scooby Doo ride best which was actually a kids ride but it was amazing. It started off as a ghost train and then turned into a rollercoaster disco in the dark. We were on it about ten times and just laughed and screamed all the way round, hee hee. The biggest ride was Superman. It went from 0 to 100mph in two seconds and was fantastic. You should've seen everyones hair when it stopped, would've been a classic photo!
At the end of the day there was a big parade with all of the characters there - Scooby Doo and the gang, tweety, sylvester, bugs bunny, wonder woman, shrek etc etc. How hot was Batman and Flash Gordon - wow! Got my photo taken with them and will put them up soon for you all to see. Sorry Kyle but Spiderman wasn't there and neither was Iron Man. I looked high and low but nothing!
Had a massive thunder and lightening storm the other night. Oh my god, how scary. Nothing like the ones we have at home! You know what I'm like with thunder, well it was a million times louder here and lasted for ever! We had an amazing view from our balcony of the lightening but I stayed inside and covered my ears!! Glad we had the storm because was just getting way too hot and humid. Since then it has been a little cloudy which has been nice. Good to get a wee break from the sun before it gets way too hot. Will put up all my photos soon......
Well it's been a few weeks since I have updated my blog. Nothing much to say really as trying living the Aussie life, trying to save money at the mo for the rest of my trip! Since I've been here we have just bn partying and partying and partying! All my photos are of drunken nights out I'm afraid, but hey I'm on a year long holiday - partying is exactly what I should be doing.
Went on a road trip to Byron Bay this weekend (same place that I went to for the music festival). Had a wicked time! We went to the beach during the day and spent hours in the water jumping over the massive waves - so much fun!!!! We went out for tea and then hit the pubs and clubs. Byron has a vast amount of nightlife for such a small place. Was a great weekend and we are all still recovering today!
GLOBAL GATHERING - Me, Emma, Nikki and Sarah got ourselves a job at the music festival 'Global Gathering'. We arrived in Brisbane in the early hours and were given jobs to do for the day. I was working at the entrance putting wristbands on everyone. It was so much fun. The other people working were a good laugh and we got some great banter from all the people coming in. Even got chatted up! No one was really looking after us so I kept sneaking off for a wander round the festival and wee breaks here and there. We worked from 11am to 6pm and got a great pay for it, then we got into the festival for free - how fab! We spent the rest of the night partying and drinking and tried not to get too much mud on us, (there had been a ten minute downpour in the afternoon which turned the whole place into a mud pit. It was hard to believe I was at a festival in Australia!!). Don't have many photos as kept forgetting to get the camera out and also knew it would get covered in mud, but have uploaded the ones I took. We have asked our agent if he can sign us up for other festival work as there are a few coming up in the next month or two. I would recommend it to everyone, it was the best work ever!!!
