Day 1 - Arrived in Sydney on the 5th of August. We were supposed to be staying in a hostel but thought we would cancel it after our last experience. We organised accommodation at the airport and were taken on a shuttle bus to our hotel in Kings Cross. Checked in and then went for a walk.
We were shocked as to how hard it was to find somewhere to eat! There were plenty of restaurants but they all just serve Steak, Chicken Parmiagana and Chicken Schnitzel. So we hunted around and found a lovely pasta restaurant. After tea we walked around Darling Harbour and then uploaded photos from Byron Bay on the internet for free - woohoo! Then it was back to our room to get organised and look at all of the leaflets we had picked up over the day.
Day 2 - Early rise as we wanted to do lots of sight seeing. Decided not to get on the city tour bus as we could easily walk to the places we wanted to see. We thought that the centre of Sydney would be much bigger! Walked around for a few hours and had a bite to eat. We then headed down to the Sydney Opera House and it poured with rain. We were totally drenched, soaked through to the skin. We arrived at the Opera House looking like tramps! All the Chinese tourists were running about with yellow ponchos on - so funny! The rain stopped as soon as we got there - typical, so we tried to dry off and took some photos. It was then back to the hotel to change into some dry clothes and to do something with my massive, curly hair doo! We then walked around Chinatown, did a bit of shopping and took a wee ride on the monorail to see Sydney at night. We are now about to go and look for a pub to sit in and have some wine - again mmmmmmmmm.
Day 3 - Had a late night last night and consumed a lot of wine so it was a later rise than usual. We went up Sydney Tower which was cool. Thankfully it was a clear day and we could see around for miles. Took lots of photos! We had also booked in to do a Jet boat ride but got a little lost so we were late. We decided to have a hot chocolate in Star Bucks as a massive thunder and lightning storm was coming. Oh my god, you should have seen it. I am petrified of thunder but I managed to hold back the tears so that I didnt look like a woose! We went out for a nice meal and then started on the champagne - need I say any more!!!
Day 4 - Woke early with headaches and headed to Darling Harbour for our jet boat ride. WOW!!!! It was amazing. It was only the 3 of us on it so the boat was really light and was flying around. It did 360 degree spins, turns, slammed on the brakes and totally soaked us. Was so much fun!! Wanted to do it again. We jumped on a ferry to Manly. It was beautiful there and again - very chilled out. Did some more shopping and had a wander along the beachfront. I'm now writing this blog and then I'm off to organise my suitcase for our flight to Melbourne tomorrow. Meeting Mardie there on Sunday and we are going to the neighbours night and day tour - cheesy but very exciting. Heather and Rachel - I will try my best to meet Harold - hee hee.
