Day 2 of the study and to be honest I was quite excited today to learn some new words and maybe get out and put them into practice. I spent most of the day at my new place doing lessons and coming up with lists of words I could use straight away. For lunch I had brought some small fish and went about attempting to cook then; basically I coated them in seasoning and then fried them in hot oil. They didn't turn out that great but ohwell I have a while to perfect a cooking technique for them. In the afternoon I went for a walk along the broad walk and watched the masses of people spending their holiday with friends and family at the beach.
Day 3 and I am starting to get into the swing of things and have a little bit of a routine happening. Today I really wanted to hit the books hard and see just how many hours I can put in without overdoing it. In the end I think I managed about 5 or 6 hours and I guess that is where I will draw the line. The aim now will be to put in 5 hours a day everyday of Spanish; not just grammar but all kinds of immersion and media will be used. Once again in the afternoon I went for a walk around the city and was lucky enough to catch the sun set. In the evening Elizabeth told me there was a new American girl moving in next Monday and she will also be staying for a month - that should be nice to have some company.
Day 4 I am getting used to the routine; wake up, workout, eat breakfast, sleep another hour, study, vocabulary, lunch, more study, sun tan, go for a walk, little more study, yoga, shower and dinner. Lets see how long I can stick to such a routine without boring myself, the good thing is I have wifi in my room and so can download movies and TV shows to watch. I also have a nice little kitchen where I can cook up Peruvian concoctions which will keep me same. Dare I say I actually started to think in Spanish today.
Day 5 through to 7 kind of melded together and were very prosperous in regards to my Spanish study. I have been talking in Spanish with the family who own the place where I am staying and at every chance have been practicing talking with locals. I still haven't gone out surfing yet but it is on the cards. I just finished the short course I was doing on Spanish and now I will focus on finding another means of teaching myself Spanish. I am hoping within 2 weeks I might be able to begin to read very basic Spanish books, papers etc. The house/hostel where I am staying has been really quiet with guests but full of Elizabeth's family who are here visiting on their vacations.
