I am really starting to enjoy having my own room, privacy and a tv - it's amazing these things I used to take for granted make me so happy now. However today is the day I need to make a decision and so at 10am I went down the bus station and made the decision to head South to Trujillo - Peru. Trujillo is a large city: pop- 850,000 but just outside of the city there are some very nice surfing beaches. After lunch I made my way to the station and what chaos it was - there was a huge parade going on and all traffic had been stopped. I boarded the bus and you wouldn't believe it I got lower level VIP seating: lots of leg room, comfort and as I boarded I was handed a little snack bag with banana chips and an orange juice - arghhhhh it's a good day! I paid very little for the bus which is the amazing thing. The journey took 7 hours and I only managed to sleep the first few hours so the journey seemed long - I always prefer to take night buses as when you get onboard you are already tired and can easily sleep. Arriving in Trujillo I walked around for an hour trying to find Internet to see if I had got any responses to my couchsurfing requests or volunteer prospective emails, unfortunately not so I decided to make my way out to Huanchacha. After getting told where to catch bus from; I stood waiting for 45 minutes for the bus before figuring out I was at the wrong exit road. I eventually caught a bus and by 10:30pm I arrived to Huanchaco, I found a hostel and booked in for the night, oh and a hot shower - true luxury in Peru. The place I am staying is called Chimu Beach hostel and there is only 4 of us in the hostel part of the building which is nice. The internets good, showers hot, place is very clean, kitchen is ok and the brothers running the hostel are really cool - I might just stay here a while.
