Today the aim was to continue looking for accomodation and maybe find a board and a wetsuit to buy or hire. I got up early which is a rate thing around here, most people tend to sleep all day after big nights out. At about 10 my new friend Nemo came around and took me to a few places to look at - one of them was really nice, quiet, own room, bathroom, satellite tv and kitchen and the woman was asking about $170 a month for it which seems really cheap but could probably get for less. I then went and met another local Joel who took me around and tried to help me find a board and wetsuit - I found a couple and for board and wetsuit I was looking at about $200 which is not to bad at all - I agreed to buy a board and wetsuit and said I would return the next day. The rest of the day I spent at the beach hanging around with the locals watching people surf and waiting for the evening as there were a few big parties happening. The people in this town are so friendly and love foreigners - I keep thinking they have ulterior motives but at the same time appearing so sincere. I was invited around Nemos house in the evening where I met and hug out with his family before heading to the bar. The bar was packed with foreigners and locals and the locals were getting super drunk - an all to familiar site in this country. I still can't help but be a little paranoid about my safety here so I decided not to drink and keep my witts about me. I met this really nice girl who had a spare room for rent so we went and had a look and it was perfect - full furnished house, all the amenities for the same price as the other and I managed to talk price down. I agreed to move in the next day and spent the rest of the night hanging out with this girl and realized the whole thing just sounded to good to be true - turns out her Australian boyfriend had left the day before to head back home - maybe this is not a good idea. Over the rest of the night and from bar to bar I noticed how the locals treated the foreigners - very strangely being super nice and friendly and almost like having respect for having a gringo friend. I don't know what to make of it and part of me remains skeptical. I thought about it all evening and when something seems to good to be true, more often then not it is so I decided I wouldn't take up this girls offer to move in straight away but hang-out with and get to know her before making any rash decisions.
