Day 65 (Wednesday 20th December 2006)
Marc was up at 06:40 to watch the live Liverpool v Arsenal Carling Cup, quarter final on Fox Sports, only to be tucked back up in bed minutes later when they revealed the game had to be postponed due to heavy fog...Christ your weather sucks!!!!
He wasn't asleep again for long, his cousin ringing us up because she needed collecting from work due to that crooked neck of hers. We rushed down to the city and took her back up to Elizabeth to visit her docs.
In the car she told us she had some bad news (how wrong she could be...it was the best news ever). Keith had phoned her at work and told her not to bother bringing us up Christmas Day, we weren't welcome around his house.
Well, well, well, the man's surpassed himself, but we can't really say that we're surprised. Nothing less should be expected from such a petty, childish, cowardly, cold-hearted ignoramus!!
Having left his house in an adult and civilised fashion, proceeded to send him and his family a thoughtful Christmas card, as well as a couple of text messages, our consciences are clear.
If Keith ever wakes up one day, takes a look in the mirror and realises what an a*****e he is, you never know, he might feel very embarrassed about the whole event. Until then, no one's holding their breath.
As for us, our Christmas just got a whole lot better. We're going to borrow a barbie off of Ria and Dan and hit the beach...exactly what a good old Aussie Christmas should be about!
The thought of sitting in Keith's dull little home, sat with 'Mr Conversationalist' himself, wearing fake smiles and pulling Christmas crackers, is enough to make any fun-loving human being sick to their stomach. But we can now breath a sigh of relief, for we don't have to endure such torture anymore.
So Uncle Keith...have a nice Christmas you miserable b*****d!!!!Once Ria was safely propt up on the sofa, one of our inflatable travel cushions wrapped around her neck, we headed off to the post office to post a parcel of late Birthday goodies to marc's mum and Stevie. You should get them in 7-10-days guys.
Later on we posted another parcel, this time to Sarah's mum and dad. Not quite so exciting we're afraid...a box containing all the junk we've collected on our travels that's been weighing us down. It's pretty big and despite sending it by boat, it costus $69! Should be with you in a few months (probably after us then unless this money turns up).
In the afternoon we sat down and reviewed our itinerary, especially for Oz, as well as our financial situation. We phoned up a million banks desperately trying to trace the missing £1000 and at 23:30 (and even a call to our mobile from a bank in the Uk), we were still no closer to knowing!
Marc phoned his mum too and had a good old chat. Have fun on Boxing day guys and make sure Molly and 'Enzo' get well acquainted!!
Before tea we drove down to Ingle Farm shops where we bought some new sunnies each (Marc's having broke 2-weeks into our trip...he's been wearing them with 1-inch arms on each side, often the wrong way up, and Sarah's cheapies from Bangkok finally falling apart) and an 'i-bass'...a little docking station for Sarah's i-pod which we can connect up to 'Fran' and roll down the road listening to Rolf Harris until our heart's content!!
That evening we got in a Chinese takeaway...gotta' love them curries!!
Day 66 (Thursday 21st December 2006)
We were going to get up and visit Victor harbour for the day, but when we awoke the weather looked pretty gloomy outside...don't suppose you know that feeling??? Well these guys had forgot what it felt like and amazingly Adelaide went on to have its first heavy down pour for over 6-months, culminating in a 'small' thunderstorm that evening!
Instead we took a ride into the city to find the nearest STA Travel centre to get our flights and stuff organised. Along the way we dropped the I-bass in for an exchange...the damn thing blowing the power in the whole house the night before!
STA Travel couldn't actually do anything for us, so we left feeling rather short changed, with a few telephone numbers and directions to Quantas who apparently could. However, a very friendly and helpful 'Tommaso' changed all our flights for us as well as charging us just $50 for his trouble... just over a score!
A list of our flight changes will be e-mailed to the relevant parties (those picking us up) and you'll all be pleased to know that we have decided to come home a little earlier than planned...Monday 30th July. So we'll roll into Heathrow at 07:30 on Tuesday guys (if we last that long that is!!)
After getting all that stuff sorted we left the city for the Adelaide Hills and took a ride into the country, following the 'Torrens River Scenic Drive' (as scenic as it could be through the window wipers)!
When we got back that 'arvo' Ria was there, sent home again because of her neck. That was it they told her not to bother coming back until after her Christmas holiday period.
That evening the girls went to Woollies to pick up some oven crap for tea like chips, fish fingers and stuff and of course some backed beans for Marc. We ate this simple, but fantastically tasty meal, whilst watching some poor Aussie stand-up comedy on tv...they ain't no Peter Kays!!
Sad to hear about Warnie! It's big news over here, as it should be, but hopefully with him now gone and surely McGrath to go soon, England can get that little Urn back next time around!!!!!!
