Day 61 (Saturday 16th December 2006)
We lent Ria and Dan 'Fran' (Dan can't drive his works car at the weekend) so they could get some stuff done that morning. When they got back we drove up to Ingle Farm shops so Marc could get his hair trimmed and Sarah some thongs, while the two of them were back out again, this time having Christmas lunch with some of Dan's relatives.
Now if you're wondering, thongs is the name given to flip flops by Australians, and Ria took Sarah by total surprise when, talking about tonight's meal and the strict dress code she said: "Us girls can get away with just going in our thongs"!!
So that leads us on to crocs...not only does everybody out here not wear them, but they're pretty much despised by all, including Ria and Dan! We guess that's all that can be expected when you follow Uncle Ian's dress sense...thanks Uncs!!
When we came back we baked some brownies, whilst watching England once again throw it all away in the cricket. Then, sporting a trendy new hair do, and more than just a pair of pants, we met back up with Ria and Dan to visit Glenelg for Sarah's belated Birthday celebration.
Glenelg was a beautiful and lavish place, a bit like Gunwharf with its marina, restaurants and luxury apartments, only with tropical trees, a gorgeos beach and a tram! We strolled along the beach and the marina before hitting 'The Grand' for dinner. We enjoyed a lovely meal, and company, whilst the sun set behind us. (Marc even found a table near a tv so he could keep tabs on the cricket. It wasn't what he wanted to see mind you, but boy what an innings by Adam Gilchrist!) After dinner, we chose from a huge selection of ice-creams and sat and ate them down on the common...it was lovely.
Feeling rather stuffed, we all rolled back into 'Fran' and designated driver Marc drove us all home - where we collapsed on the sofa and watched a good old Aussie flick.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JODY!!!!
Day 62 (Sunday 17th December 2006)
Marc's thinking Ria's becoming something of a bad influence on Sarah...dragging her up early for some more shopping! Luckily this time it was just food shopping and anything to do with food is ok by Marc!
Marc never actually left the house all day! He watched a combination of cricket and Premiership re-runs of Saturday's games. Arsenal's 88th minute winner at Wigan on Wednesday was obviously a mere fleeting visit with luck, as they went straight back to being theeee most unluckiest team on the planet!!
Fair play to Pompey. Any side that can be battered for 90-minutes, score a crappy goal from a free-kick that everyone's still trying to figure out was awarded for (hence Mr Wenger's little trip to the stands) and nick a great goal whilst inside their opponents half for the second time (and last) in the match, all before desperately hanging on for the draw...perhaps deserve their point??? Being an Arsenal fan can only make you bitter!!
Still, they're undefeated at the Emirates and meanwhile on the other channel, England were making a fist of it in the test match...can they still win it???
Something that was certain to evoke a raptuous applause by both Marc and Sarah however, was the roast dinner Ria was knocking up in the kitchen! The dinner itself was fantastic, Marc even dabbling in a bit of pumpkin, as we scoffed up our first roast for over nine weeks. On the other hand, her 'boom boom boom' dance music and dancing around the house, didn't quite go down so well, if not providing us with a chuckle!
Sarah was chuffed to bits when her family phoned that evening and unsurprisingly with the amount they drunk all day, both her and Ria, went to bed with stonking headaches!
PS Congratulations to Curbs and West Ham...what a win!! Chelsea you lucky scumbags...so that's where all Arsenal's luck has gone!
What's going on with the mighty Spartans? That's 4-weeks without a game now!
Still no response from Uncle Keith since we sent him a text and a Christmas card...surely he's not that childish is he???
And Marc's mum...no more pictures of his bum we promise!!
