Day 63 (Monday 18th December 2006)
We have some money!! Sarah's emergency funds sent over from her account went through this morning, but unfortunately there's still no sign of the missing ₤1000!
Not that having any money mattered much, Marc wedging himself back on the sofa to watch the final day's play of the test match (not that it lasted too long). It was tough viewing however, Australia recapturing the Ashes and taking a 3-0 lead in the series.
For a while at least, Flintoff and Pietersen had Marc thinking they were going to pull off the greatest run-chase of all time, 'Freddie' belting the ball all over the shop! But as soon as the England skipper was bowled by the amazing Warne, the writing was on the wall.
By the second ball after lunch, Australia had regained that little Urn, and after we'd managed to hold it for a pathetic 463-days...well done boys!
With money in the bank, we took a spin to the shops to get a few bits and pieces. We picked Ria and Dan up a thank you card for their troubles and bunged some cash inside for them. When they came back from work they were chuffed to bits with our little gesture, but would not except the money. We wouldn't take it back either, so it's remained on the kitchen worksurface ever since!
Later that evening Marc (with a lot of help) knocked up a buttered chicken curry (and after he'd got over the fact that there wasn't actually any butter in it). No one died!
So one week until Christmas! Doesn't feel like it...
Day 64 (Tuesday 19th December 2006)
We awoke to find Ria sitting in the garden. She'd rung in sick due to her bad neck, so we took full advantage of her availability as she drove us out into the Adelaide Hills and to the German village of Hahndorf.
Now the Germans weren't exactly flavour of the month with us, but this little villagewas really pretty and better still, had no Germans!! The three of us sat and ate a picnic in the park, before strolling the village shops...the girls well and truly stocking up at the 'lolly shop'...that's sweet shop to us!
In the evening Ria dished up a scrumptious shepherds pie and we all sat down and watched 'The Beach'...we miss you Ko Phi Phi!!
PS Good to hear from you Ellen...glad you're jealous! And Katie, we'll start looking for a baby kangaroo for you right away...
