Day 5,
Surprise, surprise!... We actually woke up before the wake-up call: 7:00 AM to be exact. After breakfast, we had a very important assignment, buy a cell phone before we left Florence.
Well, it was not easy, but we did it. Cheap here, really!... And guys, if we decide to call you, you pay for us, not us: Good deal!.
On our way to Palazzo Pitti, we visited this beautiful church "Santa Maria Novella". It had very nice gardens in the courtyard and it was just simply wonderful to be able to see this remarkable piece of workmanship.
I forgot to mention, that it was raining, so we bought cheap umbrellas on the street and mine flipped over just like Mary Poppins. So, we bought better ones two streets down and gave our cheapes away.
PALAZZO PITTI
Huge building with more than 108 steps (Jo's counting), with so many rooms, so much art, paintings and sculptures.... Our eyes were crossed and our minds blanked after 4 hours. We went to lunch and met some nice people from Gatineau, Qc. whom we had seen earlier at the Palazzo.
Back to the Palazzo, we tried to visit the Gardens of Boboli. Again too much to see, not enough time and too sore to continue (Jo has just reminded me that we climbed another 102 steps to get to the top of the Boboli. And the view of Florence was spectacular: 360.
With our shoulders screaming with pain from carrying our heavy bags, umbrellas and purchases, blisters on our feet, we trekked back home, piano, piano (slowly, slowly). Had room service again after a drink on the terrace (too cold and rainy to eat outside).
Tomorrow, the real test starts: we pick up the car to go to Pisa and we already decided which way we will lean at the leaning tower of Pisa.
Sorry everybody, we know you want more pictures, Jo is having problems uploading more than one picture at the time but she is working on it and hopefully, it will pan out soon.
Buona notte tutti,
The Tuscany Ladies.
