Day 4!
With a wake-up call, we made it to breakfast finally... Our objective today was to visit "Il Duomo, the Cathedral and the Baptistry of San Giovanni". On our way, we also saw another church "Santa Maria Novella" - pretty!-.
It was a really hot & humid day! When we arrived at Piazza Duomo, we decided to tackle the climb to the top of the Dome: 464 spiraling steps in a very narrow corridor to reach the top. Needless to say, we had to stop a few times. But the view of Florence & countryside was spectacular and well worth the climb. We also visited the Baptistry and looked at the tower (campanile) which had 414 steps. We'll do this on the way back (Jo says maybe...).
We decided that it was too hot to visit anything else so we came back to the Hotel, taking a different route, where some streets were so small, cars could not even get through. Had lunch and finally made it back to the Hotel.
We planned and entered in the GPS all of our next stops.
As we were getting ready to go out for supper and check a few other things, the rain, thunder and lightning started. We even had hail! So we had room service and sat in front of our balcony most of the evening, watching people go by.
Tomorrow will be a full day again. We will be visiting the Palazzo Pitti which has 5 museums and one of the oldest gardens of Italy: the Boboli gardens.
Tonight's photo is Andree's picture of the Day. Much love to you all!
