Day 10
At Le Guardiole we had another rotten breakfast. Not to pleased, we checked out and went to our next stop, the hot waters of Saturnia. We did good driving there, a little longer then we thought, once there we had to manipulate our bodies out of our regular clothes in the car because there were no change rooms, not pretty but we managed. Enjoyed an hour letting the waters ease all the tension away.
Had lunch at a restaurant nearby and continued on our way to Spoleto, we made a few little mistakes, but nothing drastic.
Andree did learn how to put diesel in the car today with lots of help from the gas attendant and four other curious onlookers, she politely thanked them all and off we went. We decided to forego the narrow roads of the country side, took a longer route but safer one on the highway. The country roads are very twisty, turny, like the Zoom Zoom commercials. Gordon would have loved driving them.
Our Hotel that we thought was supposed to be before the main part of the city ended up to be central, with very, very narrow streets, we had to pull in the mirrors and even then it was too tight off a fit for comfort. We parked the car with little choice because we were at a dead end and couldn't turn around. Didn't look much like a palace to us from where we were standing... Then we saw a garden and decided to check it out, sure enough it was the entrance to the hotel, we checked in to a beautiful room, very palacee like.
We rested for awhile, then went out for supper to a real nice restaurant recommended by the owners.
Ready to go to bed and get some rest. It was a long day.
Buona notte tutti,
