Day 6.
Early birds we were: pretty nervous actually, it was the big day to pick up our Mercedes, which turned out to be a Volvo with dents and green paint on the side, I was very offended. We did not say anything, took the keys and signed the papers. It looked like a car remote from which a key came out but no place to put the key. We figured that one out and found the opening in the dash to put the remote in and press the start button, nothing... We tried again, and still nothing so I said to Jo you go in and ask the lady for help. It's so easy when you know how: when you press start, you put your foot on the brake
After 15 minutes of trying to get on the main road to cross the bridge in FLORENCE, we were finally on the highway in no time. Coming close to Pisa, we hit the round-abouts, crazy circles with 4-5 exits each and the exits are not numbered or named.
On top of that, according to our GPS, our Hotel was in the middle of the same Arno river that flows through Florence. We kept on trying and we always ended up at the same spot and still no Hotel. So, cell phone time, and found out that we did not have the right address. Finally after many more round-abouts, we made it.
Second adventure of the day: it was raining so we could not do any sightseeing, we decided to do laundry, with only a street name and GPS, we decided to walk because we were told it was not far. We came to a dead end street, and asked some children who were playing, how to get to the street and were told we could not walk to it: it was too far. So back to the Hotel with our dirty clothes and we decided to take the car. Started out and hit the first of many round-arounds (Andree is counting round-abouts like I am counting steps). Anyway to make a long story short, we could not find the laundry mat and again, we were saved by a very nice gentleman who guided
us to the place with his Vespa.
Had supper at the Hotel, everything seems to be closed here on Sundays. Tomorrow, we will be leaning towards the leaning Tower and many more round-abouts, I'll bet. Tucked in for the night, hope you are enjoying the stories of our travels.
The Tuscany Ladies.
PS: Jo thinks she has finally worked out a way to put more pictures on the site. Go into photos and the albums should show up. Unfortunately, on the first few days, you will find only the one picture (new photo album marked extras).
