Hey peeps!....the first blog of many (I hope!) anyways just sitting in front of our room which is on a floating house...so basically we're currently floating on a river! We had our first night here which Jen was a bit unsure of at first but the scenery really makes up for the room and toilet/shower!! Yesterday we went to the floating market which was crazy!!! Just like being in a traffic jam but with boats coming at ya from all directions! We then went to the Jeath War Museum and the Bridge of the River Kwai which is what the world war || prisoners of war built for the japanese....which was interesting to see. From there we went to the Tiger Temple....where we got to have our pictures taken with tigers.....which was quite an experience. Just got back from our second day of our tour in Kanchanburi.....this morning we went to Erawan waterfalls which was a bit of a trek! Though once we reached the 7th waterfall it was worth it! Plenty of photos were taken so you can see for yourself :) When we were trying to get into the water Matt epically slipped in front of everyone! I did my best to hold the laughter in....before asking if he was alright....and don't worry he was fine :) anyways....when we were walking back down to the exit we managed to see a few monkeys hanging around which was pretty awesome! After this we stopped off at yet another waterfall and as this would have been our 8th it didn't seem so great. We then went to the Death Railway...which we got to ride.....I think it's called this because of the amount of people that died whilst building the railway in WW||.
So tomorrow is a new day for riding elephants and bamboo rafting! :)
Now just sitting on the sleeper train to head down to Chumphorn then onto Koh Tao.....we've got the short straw and are sleeping on the upper bunks which at the mo seem pretty snug!!
Today we had our last day of the tour....after breakfast we went bamboo rafting....so we sat on a raft made of bamboo....we were pulled upstream by a boat where they then let us just float downstream towards the elephant camp....this was really nice...just being out on the river where the sun was shining down, jealous?! Haha...just kidding! We then got to the elephant camp where we hitched a ride on an elephant....we had a baby one too as it was connected to it's mother....this was awesome!!! It took a while getting used to the motion of it though....we even got to sit on the actual elephant to have our photos taken! From here we got picked up by a minivan and taken to the Hellfire Pass Museum...which is a memorial for all the prisoners of war that died whilst building the railway for the Japs....this was really good. It made you think about things you take for granted...anyways will update you on how the sleep was on the train when we reach our next destination!
