After yet another boat journey we reached land....krabi jetty, I think the sickness tablets had done the trick as we both stumbled off in a dazed state! We had a short journey to ao nang where we got dropped off just out of town....our surroundings were mountains, trees with swooping vines, and wooden bungalows!.....we felt like we were deep in jungle and a million miles from civilization which was kinda refreshing!..our hut was pretty basic but all we needed...we was desperate to do some washing as most of our bag smelt like it had been rotting away for a while...we made use of our travel wash and got a good load cleaned...Jen was getting pretty good at scrubbing by this point.....and matt was the official rinser then hanger!.....we later found out that no sun was able to get through the trees and there was a constant dampness....I think our clothes went back in our bags smelling worse also failing to dry!!....grrrr!!..our only option for food that was remotely feasible was the resorts restaurant serving some pretty good noodles....I had never seen Jen eating so much vegetables before let alone things she had never tried!!...there was a free taxi service from our resort that ran every hour so the next day we took advantage and got dropped off along the seafront....this was our first real confrontation with what ao nang was all about...the beach was deserted which made it that little bit more special....there was some good views off the coastline and out to sea a few islands on the horizon...on the main road just up from the beach there was the typical shops and restaurants you would expect from any English seaside resort...it just had an Asian slant!.....we decided to check out rai leh which was yet another boat ride.....only a 20 min ride to a cove round the corner tho!....a long tail boat.... and our only way to access the steps was to wade through the crashing waves....so there matt was lifting Jens bag high above his head to prevent it getting soaked 'yes...its dry' we had successfully tackled the obstacle and was safely aboard....'huh?...my glasses!.....arghhh crap!!'......don't worry they wasn't expensive + the fakes were cheap enough....I'm sure matt would find some new ones soon enough!!!...... Coming into rai leh west beach we was met by a quiet stretch which consisted of a few people and some shack cafes....Jen was pretty happy with finding a nice spot to relax and enjoy the beach....matt had other ideas....and decided to drag Jen off to explore, we walked through to the otherside of rai leh to the east beach..... Jen wasn't too happy when all we saw was a few washed up boats in a swamp like area!!!.....'I promise we will see some awesome stuff soon....it will all be worth it!!'......'grrr...we better!!'....soo off we went walking south this time.....we eventually came to a huge rock face which we weaved through and around to enter an amazing stretch of beach....it had soft sand, crashing waves, surrounding tiny uninhabited islands which made the view very special.... Just up from the beach were rock climbers challenging the steep rock face, pesky monkeys, and a huge cave!....the walking and exploring had paid off....this time anyway!! We spent most the day laying on the beach and when the heat got too much in the sea.....this was typical to the rest of the beach lovers.....a real mix of tourists...some fully clothed for obvious religious reasons...'how they could withstand the heat fully clothed was beyond me'......I think jen was trying to rub it there faces when the waves erratically lifted her bikini top for all to see!!....that's one beach we were never gonna be allowed back too....causing a religious uproar in the process!!....we headed back getting the long tail taxi back to ao nang.....our resort offered a selection of tours because we had stopped there for 3 nights their promotion offered a single free ticket for their four island tour......another boat?!hmm......why not with such a reasonable offer!!.....so the following day we got up early and was off to the dock....we was facing our boat fear head on....and appeared to be winning when we were told that we had been upgraded from a long tail to a speed boat.....woooo!!.....so off we flew literally slicing through the waves with our beautiful powerful engines!!!.....first stop.....drum roll.....yes none other than the beautiful rai leh beach we adventured to the previous day 'phra nang bay'!.... Oh well we explored a little more....this time maybe too far.....we checked the huge cave as it seemed pretty impressive.....only to find hundreds of wooden willy's.....hmm....it was quite an eye full.... We read on to realize it was something to do with a princess spirit and her fertility!!.....jens boob stunt wasnt such a big thing after seeing the cave of willy's!!!....second stop was chicken island....this was named due to a huge rock shaped like a chicken's head....we didn't hang around for long...we rocked up just off shore to do a little snorking....'be careful of the jelly fish'.....'huh'.....'what'.....it was a very brief swim to check out the fish for me and Jen.....some of the other foreigners played it a bit more dangerous!!....we were shouting out to them every time a huge jelly fish was floating near by....they seemed to be more interested in chucking bread for the fish....it was all to our amusement though! Our next stop we got dropped off at the shore of a tiny island 'smaller than the size of a football pitch' called tub island, however when the tide went out a stretch of 200m sand linked it to a much larger island, unfortunately the tide didn't go out so we had to make to with wading through the shallow sea.....the larger island was where we ate our lunch.....Mmmm our favorite.....rice!!!....we had to keep one eye out for the monkeys!!....our last destination was poda island which had a lovely white sandy beach....by this time we was pretty beached out so just decided to find a nice quite patch of sand and chill....there was an awesome view of ao nang beach which could just be seen in the distance....we was sort of glad to get back....I think the past few weeks of non stop beaches had finally cracked us....we had a cheeky Indian that night before our last night in the cliffs....."Indian food wasn't a common thing in Thailand so often meant having one was a bit of a treat"....i can honestly say that the 3 nights we stopped in the cliffs was a party to our ears.....we heard some of the loudest strangest noises...'aeee aeee'.......not forgetting things falling on the roof of our hut......tree...fruit....vines......insects......spiders......monkeys??!...who knew!....an experience to say the least!!! We had one night in krabi before our journey down to langkawi began.....we got dropped into the centre of krabi town....with little direction to where our hostel for the night was!!....we walked up the street.....and was told it was down the street....we then walked down the street and was told it was up the street...we literally did this 3 times before we finally found the place....it was very basic but all we needed for an early departure....this was typical of krabi as there wasn't anything of interest there just a stop off point to get to and from the west coast islands...... We had an early pickup....an a/c minibus was our vessel for the next 5 hours eventually dropping us in hat Yai!!!.....huh?!.....that wasn't where the ferry port was!!.....'get out....get out'.....the driver had dropped us at hat yai bus station which was a 2 hour trip from satun the ferry port.....'wait here.....wait here!!'.....within a minute he was back with 2 bus tickets and then he vanished!!....we only waited for 30 mins before we squeezed on to the public bus to satun....already filled with mainly thai women matt sat on the only spare seat available which was at the back of the bus....within 10 mins he had a baby smacking his arm, dribbling on him one side and a Thai women using his shoulder as a pillow snoozing on the other!!....we eventually arrived at the ferry terminal.....got our last Thai meal and wished fair well to Thailand!!!....it had been a great month and not knowing what Malaysia had to bring we was a little sad to leave!!
