Woke up at 0700 feeling pretty good and wanting coffee. The first thing I do it fire up the ipad for the time and then to see if there are any comments on the blog from the day before. I hope you all know how much I appreciate it. Jason heard from Lee the girl who is looking afte his place while we are gone and she says his furnace has crapped out and she is using space heaters and the fire place to keep the place warm. Jason spoke to the furnace guy and the cost will be in the 5000.-- range for a new one. Wow that's all he needs right now! We had a watery cereal for breakfast with some cinnamon type spice in it and a boiled egg.
After I had a shower and Jason had his blood pressure checked we signed our paper, grabbed Dustin and the three of us went for a walk. The boys were going to show me the park they found yesterday. On the way we saw a booth that sold sugar cane juice. So we ordered some and sat down to wait. The men in the booth asked where we were from and soon we were all taking photo's of them with the tourists! The guys loved the drink and compared it to an orange julius. I also enjoyed it as it is officially my favorite thing about India.
We passed by the shanty with the big screen TV and we took the picture of the rooster. I stayed back but Jason got close, the rooster was in a round rock fence and Jason when he approached also saw a rat inside with the rooster. I am okay with not having seen it. We continued to the park but it appeared that the gates were locked so we proceeded to the other side to gain access. A little boy approached us with some flyers advertising Jambhulkar's Vegetarian Restaurant. India is approximately half vegetarians. We saw that the man door of the gate was opened and we accessed the park. It was beautiful with lots of small children dressed in the uniforms of their schools. The preschoolers had the cutest red and white outfits. The care takers of the park were using whisk brooms to sweep the grass, piling the leaves and storing them in baskets that they carried on their heads to go and dump. We saw men using concrete mortor and rocks to build, mixing the concrete by hand in a pile on the ground then scooping some in a large bowl to carry it where it was needed. As we walked through the poorer sections we saw industrious women doing dishes and laundry at the community water stations that is just a tap and a concrete basin. They were gossiping, laughing, scolding their children who were running, laughing and happy. There were cows tied up and pigs running around all over, (see the pics Brend). The most disturbing thing I saw was the river, as you can see by the pictures the garbage collects at the river and the water is the color of black water from our RV's. The smells of India are very strong as well. The best thing on our walk was the children, they laugh at us and when I take their picture they giggle and think it is the funniest thing. I always show them the picture and they laugh some more and yell thank you, thank you mam. They are sweet.
We walked the big block around the hospital avoiding traffic. We saw a motor cycle accident which I have a picture of after we found out the person was okay. The person that ran into the back of another motor cycle carrying an elderly lady gave the man driving the lady supreme crap and it was his own fault as we were witness. We saw turkeys in the street and on the way back we crossed the crazy street and bought grapes and the guys bought a beer at the liquor store that they said tasted mighty fine.
We returned to the room at the hospital, had lunch and then I decided to do laundry. I used a bucket from the bathroom, shampoo and did up all my clothes. I hung them out on the deck and they were dry by supper time.
Dr. Nutan came by to see us and I had Jason play her a little piano on my ipad and then she listened to "Waiting out the Rain" on Jason's ipad. For those of you that don't know it is a song that Jason wrote and played guitar prior to his injury. She liked it very much and told him that he is super talented and he would get better and do all those things again...She is sweet. She asked if I could get her a job in Canada as a Ayurvedic Doctor, I said I would look. She just may come to Canada for a visit at least.
I called Surjio this morning and he said he would come by this afternoon. It is now 5:00 pm and he hasn't shown up yet. Bets on whether he will or not? We haven't seen Dr. Malek today yet either. I checked in on Julie today and she says she is feeling better, her headache is finally gone. She has one more treatment tomorrow, so she will probably feel s***ty again. She hasn't been able to go out so I gifted her a pretty white Indian style shirt that I bought.
The next thing on our list is to take Jason for a Rickshaw ride but I told him we need a destination and a guide. Surjio where are you?
We received a surprise meal from the colledge YeH!!!

Bette Rae The blog and pictures are great! Sorry to hear about the dead furnace at Jason's place....it's always something. Glad Jason is feeling better and able to see something except the hospital.
Brend and Lar Thanks for the photos :) of the pigs :) :), actually they look quite skinny :(. Do they eat pork? You both look great and had quite a walk. It's wierd how they will sweep the grass in the park but not clean up the garbage by the creek ?!?! Priorities I guess. Kids are cute, wonder if they get to see many tourists. Pictures are great, hope your guide gets back to you. Take care, sending lots of love Brend and Lar
LuAnne You think they painted the cow's horns orange? I have a picture in my mind ~ involves somebody getting hurt holding the cow ~ lol! I'm so glad you got to get out and hope Surjiio shows up so Jason can have his rickshaw ride! So, just wondering, when do you leave the hospital to come home? Do you leave on the 28th or arrive home on the 28th? If you arrive home on the 28th you must be leaving in a few days? Enjoy your last bit of time in India ~ we look forward to some hugs !!!! Lots of love, Nan & Cameron
