Sorry about the break in the blog but when we arrived in Munich the airport didn't have any free Internet service. I could have bought some but I didn't know how much it would have cost in Canadian funds. That flight was very long but at least Jason and I had two seats all to ourselves in a row. Jason likes the window seat which suits me fine. I wish I could sleep like he can, I haven't had more than a cat nap since we left Edmonton. I am trying to wait until India's nightfall and get into their rhythm! The flight from Munich put us in a row of four seats Jason being in one of the middle seats. The plane was full with lots of small children and the leg room was a lot less than the previous flight. I should note that the first two flights were Air Canada and the last flight was with Lufthansa! Really no complaints though except the Lufthansa pilot did a bounce in his touchdown that had a few people excited.
Now about Mumbai! You know the movie slum dog millionaire well that is all around the airport, but they skirted around the really bad areas and took us on short cut through some crazy winding streets that were full of honking three wheel cars, trucks and motorcycles! The ride is as crazy as they describe and our driver even had my son the daredevil saying " you've got to be joking! It's like anything foreign though, the locals all seem to know what they are doing:). When I was going to "the washroom". Jason was waiting with our bags and saw a huge rat jump out of one of the flower pots! He thought that was pretty cool:0.
Surjo our CCSVI manager met us and another couple, a Mom and son from Saskatoon. Julie the Mom has MS and is mostly wheel chair bound but she can use a walker, Dustin his her boy about 23 and brought his Mom for the treatment. She has had two bouts of liberation therapy all ready, once in Costa Rica and once in California, now she is going for the stem cell therapy. We arrived at the Inimbar Hospital at around 445 am India time. Our room is okay we each have a bed and we have a balcony and a private bathroom. The shower just runs onto the floor of the bathroom, I will post a picture soon. So we couldn't sleep so we showered and that felt great! Just before sunrise we heard the calling to prayer which was really cool and inspired Jason to go for a walk. We stopped by the front desk to let them know we would be gone and they told us we couldn't leave the hospital. This didn't sit we'll with Jason so I told him we would talk to Surjo about it. We went for a walk outside on the hospital grounds and checked out the trees and a garbage filled babbling brook just beside the hospital.
Today we were visited by the resident Doctor Dr. Wad who is a lady doctor. Then the dietician came in and I explained that we need two meals not one like they brought us for breakfast. otherwise one of us would have starved and it wasn't going to be me:). Just when Jason and I were wondering if we were going to get anywhere today a Dr. Malik came in. He is the coordinator of the group of specialists that will be treating Jason. He told us that he is around if we have any questions or concerns and that they would be starting tests tomorrow (blood work and X-rays) and then start treatment on the 18th. He told us to rest today.
We started working on getting some comfort items like some drinking water, a kettle so I could make some coffee (they really don't do coffee here) and some tea bags and milk. When you ask for milk they bring it hot.
The hospital is insisting that Jason don these huge pyjamas and that it is hospital policy. So far he has not changed and it is escalating as more people are coming in to convince him to put them on. Stay tuned....
