Today is the final treatment!!! We got up at seven but because the clock quit at 5:45 for some reason, we were a bit confused. We had an egg sandwich for breaky again which is getting harder to choke down any chicken after seeing the live ones being abused at the meat market. About 6 people told us that Jason was not allowed to have anything by mouth past 10:00 this morning.
A man with a small shaving kit sized bag came into the room and said,"Shave"?. I looked at him in question and he said that Jason was having procedure needed to shave back and private parts. I said no, I don't think so as he had no hair on his back and they weren't giving Jason liberation therapy. The man approached Jason and said the same thing, and Jason said no, I don't think so. I explained and we showed him Jason's back where he had the previous treatment. Soon the male nurse came in and said he would contact Dr. Malek who told them that it was not necessary. WE LAUGHED, I said to Jason wouldn't that have been icing on the cake to have had your private parts shaved to get a needle in your back lol.
The next thing was they wanted to start an IV which they didn't do until he was in the operating theatre last time. Right away Jason requested that the nurse that was going to insert the IV needed to get gloves, when I motioned to her putting on gloves she said that she had washed her hands. We insisted that she go get some gloves. Jason and I really don't get this, isn't it universal to have protection against blood borne pathogens?? After she went and got gloves, she put in the IV fine but it wasn't secured very well and Jason wanted some tape to hold it. I went out to request tape and the male nurse tried to adjust the valve instead. With the IV going, soon Jason had to go to the wash room, so I helped with the IV. Returning to the bed it started to gush blood everywhere. I rushed to get someone and they again had to be told about gloves and then they tried to fix it but eventually decided to change it. The girl equipped with her gloves tried to get another IV in but after inserting and pulling it in and out she could not get it. She had a male nurse com and he had gloves and did a fine job establishing an IV. Jason wanted to tape it down so I went to the counter and they gave me scissors and tape and I did it. Dr. Malek came into see Jason, Jason told him about the issues of the staff not wearing gloves and Dr. Malek agrees but does nothing about it.
Later after I ate the hospital lunch we had a delivery from the colledge and low and behold I spotted the maple syrup!! There were some french toast, salads and Lasagna. So tonight we will dine on lasagna and in the morning have french toast and syrup...mmmm.
A friendly young doctor has been slowly becoming our favorite, she is interested in Jason and always tells us a little bit about herself when we talk. She was asking what we had seen of India and we told her that we hadn't seen much, just the outing we had with Surjio and the front street of the hospital. Dr. Nutan told me she had a day off tomorrow and would take me shopping. I asked that we wait and see how Jason feels tomorrow first but that I would love to go with her. Jason of course says that he will be fine but I will wait and see.
They came and got Jason at 3:30 for his treatment. In talking with Jason earlier he was not looking forward to going to the dungeon as he discribes the operating theatre. We were both glad that today would be the end of the poking and prodding. Off he went in the wheel chair and I settled down to wait. I was extremely surprised to see him back after only two hours. He was alert and smiled as he came through the door. They put him back in his bed again with his head in a downward tilt. I asked him how it went and he told me that he was really nervous prior to the procedure and didn't want anymore needles. He was extremely glad his procedure was done and over with. He didn't have confidence in the hospital as it is so far behind santary wise. I am glad for him it is done. I was told that at 7:30 he could again take in food, water and medication once again. The nurse also said that he didn't have to sleep on his head tonight (head down) but we will confirm that with the physicians when they come by.
The hard part is over and I feel very relieved, now to wait.......
