Harrogate is now on our 'return to' list but we will also visit nearby Knaresborough as being less than ten minutes away by train it too looked worthy of a visit. Harrogate seems a well to do sort of place with some higher end shops, plenty of nice looking bars and restaurants, pleasant parks and some lovely architecture as well. There was certainly too much to see and do during our hastily planned visit to this historic spa town. Our journey from Derby to Harrogate was via York with us arriving in time for lunch and the return trip was via Leeds but this was at peak time for commuters - note to self, avoid the rush hour in the future if possible!

Julie Beck-Richards Aha, welcome to Yorkshire!!!
Julie Beck-Richards Yes, Knaresborough is very special, if not for the petrified waters. Take something that you are OK to leave, hang it up at Mother Shiptons well and it will turn to stone in just a few weeks.
Sweeney Todd. Your always eating or drinking. Did you see the Sunday Pullman?
Andy Holt Knaresborough will be on the next trip to the area. I did not know about the petrifying well until recently. They have one in Matlock Bath too.
