Wow. What a day! As the alarm sounded at 5:55 am, I'll be honest, I initially found dragging myself up difficult! However, there we were at the bus stop waiting to be picked up for our sailing trip around the whitsundays.
The skies were blue again as we jumped aboard the camira (aboriginal meaning "of the wind") catamaran, I was quick to grab us a spot at the front o the boat across the mesh part under the sails, I needn't have rushed to be honest though as the trip was surprisingly uncrowded. This was a winters day in Queensland, with an English thermostat you wouldn't bloody think so!
Around 8:45 am Katie comment that she wouldn't mind a glass of wine, the bar didnt open until 11am. However we were able to have morning tea with fresh fruit and fruit cake!
11am came and we had a few beers on the way to whitehaven beach where we jumped off for some swimming and sunbathing, a beautiful beach with seriously White sand and clear waters, a bit like a bounty advert!
We boarded back on the camira for a BBQ lunch before sailing along to a snorkelling spot, hook passage between hook island and Whitsunday island (I think!) I was really excited about this bit but a little nervous, the three of us donned our wetsuits and snorkel gear and got in for a good old snorkelling session, the coral was really interesting and sometimes very close and shallow, saw a fair few fishes, big ones, small ones, stripy ones, brightly coloured ones. I took as many pics as I could before we had to get back on board and we all loved it.
Spent the afternoon sailing throughout the islands and relaxing at the front of the boat.
The day was literally perfect and nothing like anything I have ever done before.
Also, no guessing who was also on the tour? Only our two german mates from the Fraser island tour! Ollie told them that he was getting bored of seeing them! haha.
Now for shower and some much needed aftersun!
Over and out
