HARBIN, Heilongjiang Province:
We arrived very early Sunday morning into Harbin airport - I sat next to James Joyce on the coach from harbin airport to the hotel, I think I annoyed him a bit coz I was really hyper!
We arrived at the hotel and were given key cards... my key card didn't work! Got a new one, but that was broken too! Finally with my third key I got into our room; I'm sharing again with Liz.
It's a really nice room - pretty big. We've got our own TV and bathroom between the two of us. It's luxury compared to our Dongguan room!
Because of the later landing and so on, we were given a later breakfast and some free time in the morning.
We had orientation before lunch (we seem to be having a lot of those!), when we met our two TEFL teachers - Liz and Katrina. I'm gonna be in Class B - Kat's class! Although we'll be taught by both of them throughout the course.
After orientation we had two classes - one of the was our first mandarin lesson...the most depressing lesson ever.
The teacher only spoke about three words of English in the whole lesson, and only wrote in Chinese characters on the board and pointed at them manically while speaking Chinese so fast!
After, Przemyslaw gave the whole group a tour of the campus and a few of the surrounding streets - this uni is HUGE!
In the evening I went out to a few bars with Claire, Ali, Ed, Kate, Michael and Sarah - was a really good night! After a few beers Sarah attempted to order a vodka & lemonade and ended up getting an entire bottle of Jack Daniels and loads of cans of Pepsi!
