HARBIN, Heilongjiang Province:
Eep! Assessment day for TP today!
I was so unbelievably nervous, I honestly thought I was going to be sick! Joakim was really nice about it - very encouraging, but the thought of being observed just made me all wobbly!
I think the lesson I taught went OK... If I'd've been less nervous it may have been better, but I think it's going to be a while before that happens. If I can't cope teaching 9 kids in front of 5 adults, how I am going to manage a class of 40+!
Fiona says that bigger classes are actually easier to teach, but I don't see it...
Anyways, I was almost as nervous about the feedback session in the afternoon as I was about teaching in the first place, but it was fine in the end, as it normally is! Joakim merely pointed out the positives and negatives of each of our lessons, and for all of us it was mainly positive points.
After feedback we had our final Culture Class - we did Chinese calligraphy! Was really fun - wrote 'Go China!' and 'Go England!' in Chinese characters. Coooool!
I hope, now that I know we're not being observed, that the rest of TP will be a lot less nerve-wracking!
