HARBIN, Heilongjiang Province:
The start of TP week!
I was so nervous, and we had to meet in the hotel lobby at 7.45am, so I didn't really get much sleep! Our coach took ages to turn up - half the TTC group left to go to the other school, but everyone going to my school had to wait til about 8.15am before we even left.
I sat next to Adrian on the bus, we chatted a lot of rubbish, which was great to take my mind off the nerves!
When we got to the school we were shown to our classrooms and most of our students were in the room already.
We only have 8 students! Two girls (Jenny and Becky) and six boys (Richard, Tim, Karl, Owen, Tom and Michael). Joakim told us to just start the lesson, and not to worry about collecting names or anything.
My lesson was second, so I was able to see the two James' and Sarah teach before I had to worry about me! Their lesson finished and there was a break, and then it was Marte's turn. After she'd taught the family tree and some new family member vocab it was my turn!
My stomach was churning, but I think I managed to do an OK lesson. Their English was pretty good - I think our lesson plan was slightly too easy for them, but not so much that it was a problem.
I think once I get over my nerves I might enjoy this teaching thing!
The rest of the day was prep for the next day of TP (it turned out we DID need to collect all our students names, and their ages! Joakim told us just to guess haha), with a culture class in the afternoon.
It was Tai Chi, but I was feeling really tired and a bit murky from all the recent early mornings and late nights, so I had a nap instead.
