HARBIN, Heilongjiang Province:
Today was tour day!!
We were first taken to a Tiger Sanctuary - there was tigers (obviously...), lions, and even ligers! Which Chris got pretty excited about... to be honest, I thought they were mythical animals before today!
We were driven round in a minivan, through fields of all the animals, and then we stopped to watch the tigers get fed. After, we were dropped off by this walk-way, so we saw even more tigers, as well as some leopards and other big cats pretty close up!
Then we got a coach to this 'hat' mountain, and we had lunch in a restaurant nearby. The food was interesting... one of the meat dishes was this chicken stew - but it was a WHOLE chicken! You could see the feet as well as the whole head (you could see the beak and the eyes and everything!) it was so gross!
After lunch we got back in the coach and was driven up to the top of the mountain to do 'river rafting'. There was two to a boat, so I shared with Claire. It was so much fun!
Me and Claire were the first of the TTC group to get on the water, and all the Chinese people just went mental! We got absolutely SOAKED! They all had bowls and water guns, so we were just ambushed.
Our boat got so full up with water, we were worried were going to sink! A Chinese woman took pity on us and gave us one of her bowls, so we were able to empty our boat and regularly, and take revenge on those who'd splashed us before! It was an awesome afternoon!
The river took about two hours to paddle down, so it was pretty tiring. Once we were finally out of the boat we had about half an hour hanging around the town waiting for everyone else to finish paddling, and one of the shops sold snickers bars! Exciting stuff!
