Well today was the big day -start of the world cup! We got up n ready n me n graeme went to bank to activate our bank account! Was pretty easy then we just chilled along the harbour, taking in the atmosphere for the big nite ahead. There was people everywhere and all in good spirits! The weather was scorching, chucky even got a bit burnt! Then my friend Catherine from work in kilmarnock moved to Auckland so we met up with her for a bite to eat! Was great to catch up and get the chat from her! The place we were in was so busy that a few tables managed to leave without paying! We were more considerate, even tho it was a bit tempting lol! About 3.30 pm we thot we'd better head back to get ready. Jeez oh the streets were rammed and we actually couldnt move! It was overcrowded already and trying to get to the main street was crazy! We were actually like stuck for at least an hour trying to get through, everyone was squashed and pushing and it was actually getting a bit getting you couldn't move! But we managed, said out goodbyes to catherine then headed back to hotel and got redy! Kilts check, all blacks tops check, facepaints check,Scotland flags check! We were ready to go. Decided instead of getting the train we would go on the fan trail, which was a trail set up from the centre to the stadium with different things and footprints to follow ( thank god we had as we had found out later that there was an issue with the trains and people got stuck in them and missed the opening ceremony and some half the game!). Fan trail was awesome, great banter, crazy tongas lined the street peeping and just a great feeling about the place! Got to stadium which was jumping and took our seats which was pretty close to the front! Graeme got his new fancy camera out for some good shots, then looked panicked and we asked why he said he had left the battery charging back at the hotel! Doooooh! Wat a shame! Some presenters came on and told us we had a part to play in the opening ceremony. For those of u who saw it at the beginning there was a countdown from 10 and it showed u the stadium with lights flashin, what we had to do was when the countdown started we had to hold our phones up then into our chest then up again etc so it would be like 10 (hold phones out) pause (hold in) 9 ( hold out) etc! Was a great effect! Then opening ceremony with Maori things and performances and fireworks! Ammmazzzing! We were very excited by this point! The game started at half eight, new zealand vs tonga which was good! God the support for the all blacks was fantastic. When they had the ball and scored a try the place erupted! Was awesome! Oh and sonny bill, the rather hot all black, got his top off which made me happy lol! All blacks won 41-10 and made way back to fan trail and hotel. Auckland was jumping crazy! We got told not to go down to the waterfront as it was seriously overcrowded! Think a lot more ppl turned up that we thot! So we just walked around a bit, had dinner then bed about 1am yyyaaawwwwnnnn but wat a day!
