Got up and ready today and took sonny bill (our hired car) back to the depot. Was a scorching day Auckland, really sunny and warm! Went a walk and had a nosy at The Cloud, which is a massive fanzone made so that people can go watch the games. Was pretty cool then just walked along the front for a bit. We came across a big tent that was called Backing Black and it was like an All Blacks supporters tent. So we went in and there was a few old all blacks, rugby people and presenters having a rugby debate. Was pretty cool we watched that for a while! Saw the old all blacks Ian Jones, Sean Fitzpatrick and Kees Meus also saw pat lamb (Samoa), serge betson (France) and gareth thomas (Wales). Totally didnt know who any of them were, but graeme did of course! Had some lunch down the front then made way back to hotel. Got face tattoos and all blacks gear on then headed to Eden park. Again the houses were awesome and had changed their flags for tonites game, nz vs Argentina! Although we didn't see many argentina flags! Got to stadium and watched the first game on the screen which was south africa vs australia. Was quite an exciting game with south Africa winning until the last few minutes where Australia got a penalty and that to them to win! So they are in the next semi final. Our game started at 8.30pm and the all blacks werent playing as good as we first though they would! Think they were a bit nervous as they were without dan carter. They weren't bad but Argentina managed to score a try and were actually looking like they could have had a chance! By half time was something like 12-7 to nz so they were winning but it was still close! The second half certainly picked up a bit! Nz scored a try but was taken to the tele ref as wasn't sure if it was a try! It's so exciting watching on the screen trying to work out if it was! Turned out it wasn't! this happended 3 times throughout the whole game, and 3 times their try was disallowed! They did eventually get one mind u! By the end the score was 33-10 to nz so that s an nz vs aus semi final which should be grand! At the end it was Mils Miluana, one of the all blacks, 100th cap for the team so he got presented with a cap and everyone was cheering! It was good to see, but a bit of a shame as he didn't get to play the whole game as he got injured! Walked back into town, stopped at a wee pub called the dogs bollix for a drink, then back to hotel and decided to Skype! We had paid for wifi for 24 hours so made the use of it and ended up being up until 3am skyping our family! Was great to see/hear them! eventually going to bed at 3am! Great weekend watching the quarter finals, can't wait till the semis now!
