A pleasant 36 miles today. The upside - back to civilization; the downside - traffic and noise. It was fairly easy going today along well marked bicycle routes all the way to San Francisco. We enjoyed a bike path through the Samuel P. Taylor State Park. The ride over the Golden Gate Bridge felt anticlimactic - the reality far different than what we had anticipated. A shorter less demanding day today. It's a good thing too as my legs were quite reluctant to do hills. We stopped at the Olema RV Resort for the day. It's nice to have an afternoon off the bike and just catching up with stuff. My body is happy. The sun is shining. And we are off the crazy highway #1, leaving it for all those weekend travelers. Safe we are.

67.8 miles today. Cold and foggy most of the way, same rugged coastline with constant ups and downs. It was a shorter day today, only 38 miles and bit less strenuous than previous days but still tiring as we experienced the same kind of terrain - up and down from one gully to the next, a few ugly switchbacks - very steep both down and then back up. Happy to be in Fort Bragg, happy to have a rest day. It was not that many miles today but a strenuous day nonetheless. The climb over the mountain from Leggett was not as tough as we had expected, just a long way up. The ride down was a pleasure - long and winding with very little traffic which was a good thing as there wasn't much of a shoulder either.
