Donna goes abroad
It has been quite sometime since I wrote in here last. I shall give an update as short as I can as it has been a couple of months.
- Went to Whistler again with Chris for a weekend & have not so fond memories of the rain, rain & more rain. We went up for the turkey sale, which they have every year where you get 50-70% off snowboard gear. You can't let a good deal like this pass you by, I ended up buying my snowboard, bindings & snowboard jacket for an absolute bargain. Was super excited about having a snowboard but sad that there was no snow yet so I made Chris push me around the living room of the hotel on my snowboard which equals owners of hotel not so happy. Apparently your not suppose to have snowboards or ski's in the actual rooms (wonder why that would be?). All up was an awesome weekend shopping & drinking.
- We had Thanksgiving in October & decided to have a roommates orphan thanksgiving since everyone has family else where, apart from Melissa who's from Langley (suburb in Vancouver). This thanksgiving ended up being Turkey free……which I was so disappointed about!! (yes I'm still slightly bitter that someone forgot to buy the turkey & when I had to go get it the day before they had completely sold out 3 days before). It all ended up fine the meal was nice & Faisal & I made pumpkin pie, Drew & Hannah did all the veggies & salads since they're vegetarian & that's there speciality. Well I didn't end up going completely turkey free as Betty (Canadian Mom) bought me turkey & cranberry sandwiches to work for the whole week after thanksgiving J
- I love Fall here in Vancouver, it's so pretty! The leaves have changed colour & are now falling on our front yard. Yup I got so excited about getting to rake up the leaves & jump in the massive pile J & there were a hell of a lot more leaves once you rake them all up. Some advice for anyone wanting to jump in a leaf pile, they're not as fluffy & soft as they look. Faisal & I learnt this the hard way when we jumped in, fell right through & hit the hard ground hurting our backs. Also it's fun the first time raking the leaves up & makes your yard look better than your neighbours but only for a couple days then more leaves fall & your back to where you started.
- BOO!!! Did I scare ya??? Halloween is crazy here. Everyone goes nuts with decorating there houses with spooky stuff, pumpkin carving, candy eating & fireworks. We did all, well actually I made everyone in our house do it haha. We put up spider webs, caution tape, draculas & of course Pumpkin carving which I had an absolute blast doing!! (see photos). On Halloween night we had over 100 kids come to our door! & fully dressed in scary or funny outfits, not like back home at all, everyone here goes all out. Ooh also Halloween day someone dressed in a Halloween costume robbed the bank I work in haha.
- Last weekend I went & watched Melissa's Ringette (don't know how to spell) which is a sport kind of like Ice Hockey but just slight differences. Was awesome to watch & Melissa's gonna teach me how to Ice Skate once the public ice rinks open. We went out to her parents place in Langley for dinner, was so nice to have a proper home cooked meal. They have an amazing place & her Dad taught me to play pool. I'm not the best at playing but getting there. Her family invited me to spend Christmas with them too, which will be really awesome & we're gonna toboggan, make snow angels & snow men & play pool.
- Last of all, Anya (new roommate who's from Germany) & I went to see the L.A Galaxy's play the Vancouver White caps last night at the B.C Stadium, fourty eight thousand people showed up to watch……Well I think most of them were there just to see David Beckham play. The game was very disappointing, no one scored. It was a poor effort by both teams. The most exciting part of the game & when the crowd cheered the most was when a streakier ran around the whole field butt naked & then got tackled over by security guards & cops. My god I laughed so hard, it was fricken hilarous. All in all at least I can say I have seen Beckham play live even though he suxed & so did both teams.
