So I decided that I'd go to Whistler for 5 days before I started work (oh yeah I got a job at a bank doing data entry in the Mortgages section). So I got on a Moose tour bus Thursday morning & off we went. Moose tours are pretty awesome. Its about 2 ½ hours up to Whistler from Van, we pumped up the music, drank , stopped at Shannon Falls then onto Alice lake in Squamish for some soccer. This game seemed to be particularly violent as about half the bus got injured (there seems to be a theme going on). Mostly just lots of bruises & Belinda rolled her ankle & it swelled up to the size of a tennis ball & a couple people got chucked into the lake. Once we arrived in Whistler, we had a group BBQ where the guys cooked for us. Then we hit the clubs for drinks & dancing.
We went ziptreking. This has got to one of the coolest things I've ever done, it was so awesome! Its like a flying fox but your in a harness clipped to the wires that go from tree to tree over the forest. It takes about 2 ½ hours to do all the lines but wasn't long enough, I really wanted to do it again. We also got to do a freestyle line where they teach you a trick?.I flew upside down haha loved it! (I've got videos I'll put up for you to watch). Alex, Kat & I rented out mountain bikes & did a couple of the tracks. So funny Alex hadn't ridden a bike in years so we had to teach her to ride again?.omg she was dodgy, several times she nearly rid off a bank into the forest, also nearly took out me & Kat.
The town is built through out the forest, so the tracks you take to get into town from the hostel are a little crazy as we were told where ever in Whistler you are, you are never more than 1000meters from a bear (yikes). Also some facts is if you come across a black bear your suppose to make a lot of noise to scare it & they usually run off BUT Grizzly bears are aggressive so if you run into one of those your gonna be a yummy dinner. Now having that in mind while walking through there you get a bit paranoid about having a bear jump out at you. So Margaleen & I were walking into town & all of a sudden this Brown dog jumps out of the forest at us, Margaleen jumps, screams & grabs me then realised it was a dog & couldn't stop laughing. My god you should of seen her face it was priceless. What makes it more funny is that Margaleen is from Quebec & has got really bad english so when ever she's talking & doesn't know the word translated in english she'd look it up in the dictionary. But she'd see hot guys & walk up to them & say "cuse me I lose" as like a pick up line coz she really wasn't lost. When I realised what she was trying to say I had to correct her to "excuse me I'm lost" then explained to her that it probably sounded bad saying shes lose, although it could of gotten faster results haha.
Sunday was Canada day so they had a massive parade & fireworks which was really cool. They also had a BMX competition a couple of the days while there that we went & watched.Whistler was really gorgeous but it is definetly a resort town as everything is pretty expensive. There are also tons of Aussies, if you walked down the street & yelled Aussie Aussie Aussie you would get more than half the population there yell back Oi Oi Oi.
I would probably consider moving to Whistler when winter comes around, as snowboarding would be awesome & you can come off the hill & straight into a pub lol.
Back in Vancouver now, started work today??.was ok lol. Move into a flat tonight as well, I'm out in Kitslano (Kits) which is 20min bus ride to downtown & 10min walk to one of the best beaches here in Vancouver. Kits is suppose to be one of the best places to live in Van so whoop whoop. I live with Drew who is Canadian, Christina is American & Brad who is from Welly NZ haha how random is that.
