Hello Since our last entry we've travelled from Dunedin to Invercargil via the Southern Scenic Route which was beautiful. Once on the scenic route we entered an area called The Catlins, parts of which are a National Park and covers an area of approximately 100 miles along the south of New Zealand. Our first stop was to Jacks Bay where we took an hours walk to Jacks Blowhole which is a sinkhole 300m from the sea - quite strange as we were expecting to see something amazing from the descriptions we'd read and after walking for an hour to see it - its was quite an anti-climax!! The scenery along the walk was really lovely, especially with the fantastic weather too!! Our next stop was to Porpoise Bay and Curio Bay. Porpoise Bay is home to a school of dolphins but unfortunately they didn't appear that day, but still the bay was great to see. Curio Bay, when the tide is out shows pre-historic life in fossil formation. Luckily we got there at low tide and got the chance to see the bay. As we're not specialists in this area we didn't really know what we were looking for but it was still amazing to see. Our next stop was to Bluff which is the southern most point in New Zealand and has a very famous road sign at the end of the drive which you will see from the pictures (once we get to a computer that will allow us to download them!!) We then made our way to Invercargill where we spent the night at a lovely little campsite before heading up to the West Coast of New Zealand to The Fiordlands. Claire & Andy xxxxx
