Hi
We landed into Christchurch, New Zealand on Monday night and headed straight to our guesthouse in the outskirts of Christchurch at New Brighton.
We spent the following morning looking into hiriing or buying a campervan and after many phone calls we settled on hiring a "Spaceship". It's basically a Toyota People Carrier which has been converted into a campervan and is made up of a double bed, stove, DVD Player, mini fridge and stacks of storage. The thing that sets it apart from other campervans is not only the way it looks but also the fact that the bed extends out of the back of the vehicle and so basically looks like a people carrier with a tent attached to the back (for sleeping only, not driving!!) The great thing about is is that its just like driving a car and is so cofortable and not big and bulky like a camper.
The rest of the say we spent looking around Christchurch City which was really nice as the weather was so good. We took a tour of the city in an old fashioned tram, walked throught the Botanical Garden by the lake and then wandered around the city.
The following day we picked up our camper and headed down to the Banks Penninsula which was stunning. We then started to head south towards Dunedin, stopping at Timaru where we spent our first night in the camper, and a very comfortable night is was too.
When we get to Dunedin we will be meeting up with Andy's Auntie and Uncle, who he hasn't seen for 6 years, so it'll be really nice to meet up with them.
Take care
Love Claire & Andy xxxxxxxx
