Hi
We arrived in Dunedin on Fridy evening and set up camp for the night. The following morning we went to see Andys Uncle David and Auntie Ruth and spent the whole day with them. It was really lovely to see them and had a great day catching up.
The following morning we returned to Uncle Davids and spent the morning with them, had lunch and tried New Zealand Pavalova - delicious! We said our goodbyes and then made our way into Dunedin city to do some sighseeing. We started at the Octagon which is the centre of the city and did a city bus sight seeing tour which took us to the best parts of the city - some of the views over the city were fantastic. We then returned to our campsite and went on a hike at the back of the site around a big lake which was beautiful.
During the evening a couple from Auckland who we'd met at a previous site came over to our van and offered to take us on a sightseeing tour of the city, so off we went all over the area to some of the best parts. They took us all along the penninsula and stopped at the seal and penguin colony where we watched the penguins coming out of the water to nest for the night. Unfortunately we were unable to take photos again so no photos to show you i'm afraid!
We returned to the site at 11.30pm (so much for a half hour drive!) and had the best nights sleep ever - must be all the fresh air we're getting!
Today we're heading south to Invercargill and then making our way up the west coast to Milford Sound etc.
Hope you are all well.
Love Claire & Andy xxxx
