Melly sick day. A much needed rest day after the testing horse ride the day before. We watched the world go by from the boathouse rooftop, sitting in the much needed sunshine, but still wrapped in our phelans, the Kashmiri ponchos lent to us by our host family, to keep the chilly wind out. With my defences down and my natural nature to be taken in by all things shiny and sparkly, I bought some jewellery from the jewellery man, who came in a boat from a tiny village from afar and whose family have been involved in the gemstone and silver business for generations. All fake it turns out! If I catch that scumbag with his romantic stories and look of disbelief at Dans' query as to whether they were not just glass, I swear I'll knock his teeth out. This was one of those times when my optimism of 'but what if it IS real' (or is it just love of a bargain?) should have been squashed by Dans scepticism. I'll listen next time baby, I promise.
