To trek or not to trek? This is the big question on everyone's lips right now. Everyone being Dan and I and the two dudes trying to convince us it's a good idea. On paper it really does sound amazing, three nights camping in the mountains with trips out to some beautiful lakes, a glacier, some trout fishing, trekking, both the walking and the pony kind and of course the inevitable snow fights! In reality, it's pissing down with rain and it's pretty damn cold! At the moment I'm snuggled up in bed with Dan, underneath two thick blankets topped with a duvet, tights, two pairs of socks, a hoody and a hot water bottle on my lap. Let us not forget the old wood fire cast iron stove that's been burning in the room for a few hours prior to this. The two dudes have assured us that there are wooden huts to stay in, instead of the tents, should it continue to rain like this, but I'm just not convinced that I won't just be cold, wet and bladdy miserable, as dearest daddy would say. So what to do? Yes, there's the rain and most probably a lot of mud by now, but there's also the glacier and the lakes and the obvious 'not to be missed travel experience' and my usual ethos of 'stop being a wuss and just 'effing do it' or JFDI as we're 'fondly' told at work! On the other hand though, there's a week just here, on this charming old boathouse, with short treks nearby or some local sightseeing and shopping during the day or just lounging around, reading, playing cards and chilling to the max. So again, I ask myself, 'what to do?'. I think I'll sleep on it for tonight.
