We woke up at 10am again this morning, we were both slightly hung over and felt crap about arguing with each other last night. We knew it was stupid so we apologised and planned to have a nicer day today. After breakfast we sat in the dorm for a bit chatting with one of the guys in there. He had been travelling on his own and worked as a chef around OZ but lately he hasn't been able to get any work. We don't think he's even tried, next door were advertising for a chef and the dive boats always need chefs! He said he was slowly becoming more and more skint but he's been out drinking for the last few days! He was really depressing and boring to talk to, we had to get away from him.
Suddenly a maid came into our room, it was check out time for someone. She asked us, then the boring guy, then she turned her attention to a guy sleeping. It was so funny, she repeatedly shouted in her foreign accent "HELLO!? HELLO!? HELLO!? like a continuous alarm until finally he turned over and looked at her. She ordered him to check out then left the room. The guy grumbled for a bit then went back to sleep again. Twenty minutes later another maid came in and yelled at the guy, he really didn't seem to care and was in no rush to get up. He took his time getting showered and ready and eventually checked out at 12!
We went for a walk around the shops as we were bored and came across an Aboriginal shop. The art work in there was really good, it would have been nice to buy some of it but it was quite expensive, especially the didgeridoo's. Just then the shop assistant came over and spoke to us. She told us a little bit about the art work and where it came from. She admitted that other shops sell counterfeits shipped over from China while everything in her shop was authentic. I asked her if she knew how to play the didgeridoo then she picked one up and said she taught lessons! We got excited and asked if she could show us how to play. She was more than happy to and found us both a didgeridoo that was the right size for our mouths. She pressed her lips together then blew as if she was blowing a raspberry. Easy I thought! I blew a raspberry then Chris blew one. Then we had to blow the raspberry into the didgeridoo while holding a note. I managed to do it but not very well, Chris on the on the other hand was not very good at all! He couldn't work out how to blow a raspberry and hold a note at the same time! Surely that's one of the first things you learn when your a baby right?! After practicing he still couldn't get the hang of it so just blew a plain raspberry instead.
A little while later an elderly lady walked in with her zimmer frame, she was attracted by the music. She started babbling on about how terrible it was in the home she lived in, saying the other residents complain about her music and have signed a petition to get her out! So now she is in a hotel while the home figures out what to do with her. We asked her what type of music she listens to, bloody Oprah! No wonder the residents complained. She said she listened to it every night and it had to be played on full volume otherwise it doesn't do it justice. The lady was a real character and made us all laugh, we thanked the assistant then walked the elderly lady to her hotel.
After lunch we decided to go to the cinema to see Men In Black 3, it was really good! Then Chris rang the Reef Encounter office to confirm we still wanted to go back on the boat for the weekend. The office checked their rota and luckily they had availability for us. We were really pleased because it means we wont need to spend any money over the weekend and plus we were starting to get bored in Cairns.
We headed back and decided to cook our own dinner instead of eating the free crap. We cooked minted lamb burgers that were reduced in the supermarket, they were really nice! I could see other people looking over at what we were cooking because they smelt so good. We demolished our burgers then had an early night.
