Hola everyone!
This is my first blog entry ever, and please pardon the grammatical or spelling errors (hello collegues and students) as these keyboards and computers are old!
Well first things first, I obviously made it. Flights were all on time and I have already gotten situated at the home base here in Susco, Peru. It is a small city south of Lima with lots of pollution, very damp air, and some seriously crazy taxi drivers! If it weren{t the middle of the day and with natives not paying attention to them, I would have thought that I were being kidnapped by colorful vans that have men screaming and sliding the doors open to lure you in. rather interesting and i suppose these are their public buses.
the home base is very nice. i have two roommates, both americans, and of course me being the shortest of the three have the top bunk. ah, memories of college. showers are cold and towels i dont think will dry with this dampness but life is still good. they have unlimited coffee at the house...yes my friends, unlimited coffee. i have found heaven.
everything is closed around here today bc its sunday but tomorrow we are being taken to villa de salvador to see where we will be doing our volunteer work so i{m enthusiastically awaiting tomorrow morning. also, we will be going to see some inca ruins that are nearby.
Not too much to report now, just wanted to get a jump start on this and let you all know that i{m here safe and sound. will be writing more soon and with some pictures hopefully. this particular internet cafe is rather old and very slow. adios for now, write soon, and i cant wait to share more stories soon!
XO Carlita
