Spring has sprung in Denton. The trees are leafing up, roses are blooming and wildfowers and birds are everywhere.

I walked into Denton this morning, about 2.6km. On the way I found a little piece of Tibet. It is a yoga place so I will be going back there for at least one class, just for the atmosphere.

I didn't stop to get another chilli coffee as the café was crowded, so that will be on the list for Monday and Tuesday.... Along the way I happened on 'Sleeping Lizards' no not the reptile kind, but a funky little shop that Sold Day of the Dead sugar doll stickers, pendants etc. Coasters with sayings like. My doctor recommends a glass of wine a day....lucky I have 6 doctors. This is a shop to revisit!

And, I found a vintage and designer label dress shop 'circa77vintage'...heaven. The proprietor is an amazing lady who knows every article in the store and suggested things that fitted like a glove (I bought 2 items). Her knowledge of designers was volumous... And she is blind. She loves Frida Kahlo and has Klimt on the walls and we talked for ages. Her daughter is in NZ so she has my email in case her daughter comes to Oz and wants to look me up.

When I arrived at the Courthouse square about 10 or 12 musicians were jamming so I sat down to listen. One came over straight away and asked if I was a musician. Unfortunately no. When he found out I was from Australia I got introduced and one of them had lived in Cairns and Cooktown for a while, another told me how this Texan musician couldn't get someone to publish his music in the US, but Australia did. I then got asked to say something, anything so they could hear my accent. I obliged and then joined in with part of Eric Vogals song 'And the band played Waltzing Matilda'. Next they sang me 'the man in the big hat' a Texan cowboy song. Kelley gave me his card and told me if I was ever over this way again to look him up. A grand time was had by all.


The coffee shop was still overflowing as I walked back home so I resisted again.

Afternoon was for making my mum's now famous 1-1-1 slice for Feast in the evening. It was at Melvina's home,. I was honoured to meet more friendly open people and ended up in deep discussion with a neurological psychologist who has just submitted a paper to the White House to reform the education system!

Tomorrow is Fort Worth to do a museum or two and to see some Texan Longhorn Cattle. Yee-ha!
