One more week cruises on by and I'm into my second and final week of this current tour in Hartford, CT. I'm working at the resolution desk handling claims inside which has been a nice change of pace. At first I was very weary about coming back to Connecticut but it is nice to get back to a 8-5p schedule again and to practically have weekends off. I started the Insanity workout when I got here as well and this schedule has been a perfect way to get into a routine. I'm into my second week and it's been a tough go but I'm enjoying the max cardio which usually is followed by me collapsing into bed by 8pm haha. The workout is two months long so hopefully I can find time to keep it up if I do get deployed somewhere.
Yesterday, I hopped into the car with my compadres Justin and Nick and we cruised up to Boston for our first Red Sox baseball game at Fenway. We purchased tickets as well as reserved parking on Sunday and wound up only being able to find three seats together up in the Right Field Roof Box. Turns out the location was phenomenal, as if provided a tremendous view of the entire field. The weather was a perfect 60 degrees or so and breezy! Fenway really is one of the best sporting venues in the country with its history as well as the surrounding bar scene. A downtown city environment and ballparks go hand in hand. I met up with my friends Nicole and Alison from high school too which was a great coincidence. We chatted for a bit then joined Nicole and her husband Dan at Bleacher Bar which is a bar that is nestled underneath the Green Monster in left field. I wished that we could have stayed longer but it was midnight and work beckoned today. We had a 90 minute drive ahead of us which gave me a good opportunity to catch some Z's on the ride home. I was bamboozled as my cohorts felt it was necessary to snap some less than desirable camera phone photos of me with my mouth wide open and snoring like a bear. Oh well, it was a busy day!
Lots of things to look forward to in the near future. I put in for some time off in May for my buddy Rob's wedding in North Dakota. The plan is to hang out in Minneapolis the night before the wedding then drive five hours to ND for the late wedding. After the wedding, I am flying out to Denver to visit Michelle for her birthday. I am really looking forward to being back out there as three months without seeing your girlfriend feels like an eternity. Plus the weather is getting warmer around that time so I plan on putting in some time hiking in the Rockies. In July, I'm heading up to Maine for a little less than two weeks to visit family and reconnect with my childhood vacation spot. Good things coming up for sure...with hopefully a nice deployment somewhere cool in between. I'm looking at you, Georgia. I want a hail storm so I can see my sister and brother in law and nephew!
