(I thought the picture for this entry is kinda funny...it's a pre-loaded picture available on my blog website and it's the only one available for Hartford, Connecticut. I'm not sure if it's a picture of an inn or what, but whatever it is, I want to find it. I mean, c'mon Hartford, that's pretty lame)
Arrived in Hartford, CT tonight after an excellent weekend with the fellas in Buffalo. Kicked off Friday night with an array of appetizers at Seabar which included pork enchiladas, pacific oysters, and bone marrow to name a few, then we all went a little nuts with the entrees, sharing anything and all we could between the seven of us! I ordered the duck breast and found it to be quite excellent. If you live in Buffalo and have not been to Seabar, you are missing out...the ambiance will blow your mind (unless the constant change of colors in the entire room from blue-to-red-to-green-to-yellow-to-purple doesn't blow it first).
We ended up not making it out on the town on Friday, instead opting for the fun and shenanigans at Jay's house. By the time the idea to go out came at 2:30...well, we thought it was a good plan to not go anywhere. Here are some of the highlights:
- Dodgeball, seven ice-ings (two for Jay within five minutes of being in the house), Zeke's obsession with hoagies, dodgeball, video game fights, funnels, tequila shots at 2am, Joose dribble, pong, cold walk to Jim's for said hoagies, Brookes sleeping on two couches and three of us sleeping on a couch, a loveseat and a computer chair.
Saturday was football day, where we watched possibly the most entertaining game this century where my team of 2010 (and probably for years to come since the Vikings with Favre and Childress really upset me this year), the Seahawks, shocked the world and beat the defending champ Saints! We weren't even supposed to compete this year and now, even though we're still being hated on, we're two wins away from the Super Bowl. It's still surprising to see us playing football right now, but we'll see! Maybe we could finish above .500 with a Super Bowl win haha.
SO, fun time is over and now back to the grindstone in Hartford. Checked in about two hours ago and am laying comfortably in bed at the Hyatt. The Hyatt is definitely my favorite hotel of the bunch around here, with its sleek room designs, friendly staff and location nearby Price Chopper and the thruway. However, there's something about this hotel in particular where it loves for me to visit the front desk every other day and get a new keycard for my room since it always stops working. But, it's going to be a fairly boring 2-week tour, trying to save money and also going to be working out like a fiend with Nick. Oh and it's cold outside. Blah.
