Woke up this morning feeling fairly off-balanced. By off-balanced, I mean that I woke up and felt confused and wasn't exactly sure where I was. I've come to familiarize myself with this feeling since it's rare that I'm in one place for too long. It usually takes a couple seconds for things to really kick in, allows my brain time to process exactly what I need to do. Whether I need to wake up and get ready to go out on an inspection or wake up to go work in a cubicle or wake up just because it's time to wake up. I also went out on the town last night with my co-workers Nick and Justin so that probably contributed to my lackadaisical state.
Going out last night was needed. Nick and I had been going all week eating hardly anything but fruits, vegetables, and chicken in order to properly detox after the holiday binge. So, we decided to leave the hotel room and venture out to a new restaurant called Abigail's with Justin. Justin specializes in driving a car like a madman so naturally, we let him drive for the thrill. We got to the restaurant and immediately felt a sense of calm. It was cozy environment, looked like a quaint B&B inside and out. It was just so nice to get out of the room and experience something new. We all ordered different dishes but there was definitely a seafood theme. I mean, we're in New England so it's everywhere and we were definitely craving it. I ordered the special which was the Blackened Salmon with roasted mashed potatoes and asparagus spears. It was a really cool place that I would go out to again, even for just an appetizer and a couple brew ha-ha's at happy hour.
After dinner, we ventured out to this bar called the Black Board Cafe and met up with some co-workers. There were a ton of people in there for 9pm on a Thursday. I was actually really surprised at not only the amount of people there but at the music in which was playing. The place immediately brought me back to my college days in Oswego with all the young college students and cheap beer ($1 drafts) and music! The music was trippy...it seemed like the DJ was really attached to 2002 modern rock (Nickelback, Trapt, Switchback, etc.). Soon enough though, the tequila flowed and the laughs ensued. All and all a good night, just having good conversations.
And, I'm back in this hotel room on a Friday night after going out to dinner with my fellow Buffalo CAT pod members and looking to make an early night of it to make up for lack of sleep last night. When did I get to this point in my life where I'm perfectly content to just lay low and read or listen to some tunes? Life is good.
