Well the hail storm in which was predicted to his Georgia actually hit the entire eastern part of the country, including Dallas Texas, which is where I was re-deployed to on Wednesday. I found out on Wednesday during the work day and got the official deployment order at 4:00pm, which didn't give me much time to close out my current inventory, book a flight, book a rental car, book a hotel, do laundry and pack my life up. Oh and I also had to figure out what to do with my personal car which I had driven out to Connecticut instead of renting a car. It was the first time I had taken my personal car out there for work and sure enough, it would be the time that I would be shipped off somewhere else. I managed to store it in a garage owned by a co-worker and will plan to pick it up after my tour in Texas.
I flew in to Dallas on Thursday and promptly went right to my hotel, dropped my stuff off in the room and took a 45 minute drive to visit my two favorite Texans, Eric and Kim. It was quite convenient to be placed so close to them and it was great to visit with them, see their new house and meet their new pup Gehrig. They cooked up some spaghetti with homemade meatballs (mmmm home cooked meal) then I went back to the hotel to get ready for work the next day.
We had a meeting bright and early in the claims office in Richardson (which was an exhausting 3 hours long). Usual routine is to grab my ladder and supplies at the office then begin making contacts to insureds. I was given 40 claims to work on in the next two weeks so I had to hit the ground running. After taking a look at where my claims are located at, I re-located to Denton which is about 30 minutes north of Dallas (home of the North Texas Mean Green). That means I'm about 15 minutes from Eric and Kim and hope to see them more in the next two weeks.
Thus far, I've been working on roofs for the past two days and could not be happier with the warm weather and sunshine and lots of clear-cut hail damage to write up. Hopefully I will have some free time in the afternoon to explore the area and maybe get to a Rangers game or three!
