It has been a little over three months since my last blog entry. Took a bit of a hiatus since I felt my entries were becoming very bland but have since re-tooled and re-fueled for another go at it. The following is a light summary of where I've been and what I've been doing in those months.
Since Dallas, I have been in Arkansas and Minnesota for work and Maine, New York, Minnesota, Colorado and back to Maine again for break/vacation. Little Rock, Arkansas offered a really fun downtown scene and got in quite a bit of forest and mountain hiking surprisingly enough. From there, I traveled to western Minnesota/North Dakota for my buddy Rob's wedding. Rented a car from Minneapolis with Brookes and treked six hours west for his big day and had a fun time meeting all his North Dakota friends and hanging out in the really small towns out there.
As part of my wedding vacation, I flew to Colorado to visit Michelle for a few days. It was one of the toughest times considering the short amount of time in which we saw each other but was very glad to see her. Funny enough, my next deployment was back to Minneapolis to work tornado losses. North Minneapolis got slammed with the same bad tornado band that struck Joplin, MO and devastated it. It was a grueling scene which showed large trees on houses and garages blown off their respective foundations. Intermixed with tornado losses were hail losses so I was kept fairly busy. However, I did manage to attend a couple Twins games and ventured to eastern Wisconsin for a day of kayaking down the St. Croix River.
Following that tour, I had seven break days which conveniently led into vacation time I had taken so I had two weeks off. After meeting my god daughter in Rochester for the first time ever (cute as a button), my dad and I drove to Maine for a week of isolation in the northwoods. We went to our camp on Chesuncook Lake and the experience was life-altering. I am going to write a separate entry to describe my trip since it could be lenghty and detail oriented.
I arrived in Kansas City yesterday and have been deployed here to handle both new hail losses and old hail losses in which need a reinspection. Heading into orientation in a few hours to get familiarized with the area and losses then will begin making contacts. I will be here for a month so I hope to have time to post regular entries...as long as they don't have anything to do with insurance!
