Last night was the first time we had really noisy neighbors in a free camp. There were some English backpackers already camped but they told us other backpackers had been staying there for the past month and they returned each evening. Sure enough just on dark several four wheel drive vehicles drove in and parked right on top of us effectively blocking us in. Anyway they weren't too friendly so we just watched a recorded episode of Danish/Swedish police thriller, The Bridge, to drown out their partying. I ended up falling asleep but apparently after it started pouring around 12.30am some of them sat in their car alongside our van and turned the music up full volume. I was oblivious but Gadi had had enough and went to tell them, and it quietened down after that. But of course, I was awake by then...
Amazing how many people travel and, while not intentionally (mostly) wanting to annoy others, just don't have any idea how to share a space and respect your neighbors.
Anyway, come morning we packed up slowly and left to drive to the nearby town of Milang, on Lake Alexandrina, as we thought this would make a good base to stay a couple of days and see Adelaide without having to stay in the city. We drove first to Goolwa where we did some shopping to stock up on fresh fruit, veg and meat and then continued via the town of Clayton Bay, which had a cute little caravan park also on the lake, which felt more suited to us - smaller, cosier park, and a friendlier feeling.
We set up on a large site protected by trees with a filtered lake view and with nobody camped anywhere near us - which is good for us and for Cadbury.
Made some delicious lunch - toasted chicken wraps and a glass of vodka cranberry and lime and settled into our new site, catching up on some washing and sitting in the afternoon sun before both needing to lie down for an afternoon siesta - eating lunch was hard work!
Made a late dinner and sat outside with the candles burning til it got completely dark and it was time to head inside.
Another day on the road - how time is flying!
Night night xx
