Today was a long day! We started at5:30 am with another 2 mile walk to the market through back streets of town. Mark bought some rice rolled up in banana leaves to give to the monks who have to beg for their breakfast. Since it was his birthday they gave him a special blessing. We left for the house site and today was an especially hard day! We mixed concrete by hand in buckets and basically poured a 900 sq ft slab today! It was back breaking work mixing the sand with concrete, gravel and water -all done by hand and then poured with buckets. But we worked really hard and are actually ahead of schedule - we may get a 3 day weekend! The lady who cooks for us at her house made Mark a special green curry tofu for his birthday - along with a cake and candles. I think he felt pretty satisfied for a man of 60!! (It's hard for me to even type that number.) After leaving work we stopped at a pineapple stand where they pick pineapples in the field behind it and bought fresh pineapple to cut it up and eat on the ride home. It did not taste like the pineapple in grocery stores at home. Very delicious! After a quick shower (don't think I've ever been that dirty in my whole life)we went to the Herbal Center and had wonderful Thai massages. This time they were $4.00 for an hour. Mark and I paid an extra .50 each for an air conditioned room - such a splurge! I think I could get used to a daily massage. Another good dinner at a Hot Pot restaurant where you cook food in a pot of broth at your table. I got to talk to my daughters on the phone tonight so I'm very happy and ready for bed!! Sawadee ka!
