We woke up in our last day of luxury and pampering - enjoyed cappuccinos and a hot breakfast. Got in our van with most of the Habitat Build team and headed to Lampang. This is a town about 60 miles south of Chiangmai and is a lot smaller and virtually has no tourists at all - a sharp contrast to what we've been used to. The people here can barely speak English unlike Bangkok and Chiangmai. After checking into our "hotel" we went to their mall and had lunch, came back unpacked for the next 2 weeks and spent the afternoon reading and relaxing. Mark said he feels like he's at camp & I feel like I'm back in the freshman dorm! The shower and toilet are in the same area - not sure how its going to work without flooding the whole bathroom! We walked to a neat restaurant on a lake and enjoyed a family style traditional Thai meal. On the way back to the hotel Boots took us down the street to a very bustling little crepe stand run by a father and son. They made us some little crepes filled with butter and sugar which we ate on the street. I think this is going to become an evening ritual as they were wonderful! Off to bed and up early tomorrow to walk to the market before breakfast & heading to see the work site for the first time. I'm excited to see what we are going to be doing. Our team consists of 7 women & 3 men. Several of the women are in their late 60's and have done dozens of these Global Village builds all over the world. It's going to be very interesting...
