English Camp
Since we didn't get back from koh chang until Wednesday morning we actually only had one day to sleep off the weekend before we were trekking it over to the other side of the country, this time to Tak. We had to wake up at 4.00 am to get the first bus there. The journey took exactly 12 hours which during the day was just horrific.
But we made it. We spent the weekend doing an English camp. It was located at the top of a mountain in some kind of park. A really pretty place. There were about 100 children altogether. 10 teams, 10 children per team. The camp was superhero themed so each team was a different superhero such as batman, spiderman, the hulk, etc. My team was iron man and we won J .
We did games that were slightly English related such as Chinese whispers. Also some balloon popping game, hanging jeapordy. On the last day they did a fashion show with mr and mrs of whichever superhero it was. On the Saturday night they had a 'night galor' where a bonfire was lit and the kids did a dancing competition. Each team had to come up with a dance to one of the selected songs. Every 3 teams we did a group game with all the kids. One of which was a massivo duck duck goose and turned out to be so much fun.
However, all the games all day long were absolutely nickering and fell asleep at 10pm on the Saturday night. But on Sunday morning all the kids had to be up by 6 to do 'excercise'. I felt so sorry for them. We were woken by Justin Beiber blasting out the speakers. It was awful.
Anyway, the weekend was great fun and the children seemed to at least half enjoy it.We went home after lunch on Sunday back to boys who's project it was and slept some of the afternoon before we hit the local club that night.
The next morning we were up again at 6.30 to make the first bus home but we still managed to get stuck in khon kaen for a night because there were no more busses to loeng nokta. But it wasn't too bad. But it did mean the next morning we were once again up at the crack of dawn at 4.30 to get the bus so we could be back in time to teach for the afternoon. I am soooo looking forward to this weekend where I will have my first proper opportunity to sleep in in over two weeks!
