Christmas has been and gone and another entire year until it comes around again.
Christmas in Thailand is very different to Christmas at home. First of all, ebing a Buddhist country, they don't really celebrate Christmas. Having said that, they are aware that its Christmas and tesco had been decorated and on of the women who worked there said merry Christmas to us. They also sold santa hats for less than 20p so we quickly bought on and proceeded to wear it for the entire day in addition to my Christmas tree earrings and brooch.
Basically, we had a few people round for Christmas, though unfortunately because of travelling and previous engagements, they didn't turn up till quite late. Though jelley got an overnight bus from Bangkok and arrived with us at about 7.30 am so we had to pick her up and so our Christmas morning began. Even though it had hardly gone midnight. We just watched movies and inbetweeners until everyone else turned up.
The opening of presents wasn't really done in one go but gradually throughout the day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my mother for all the little gifts J
Everyone had arrived by 9pm. so we decided to have "Christmas dinner" on Sunday instead. We messed around pretty much the whole night. Fleurs mum had recorded a Christmas chart on 4 music so we did a bit of chirstmas singing. Also, clem brought snow!! It was powder that you added water to and we all had some and threw it in the air. It was brilliant fun. Though shortlived cos now we still have little white grains all over the floor. Then we watched love actually and blackadders Christmas carol but by this point most people had drifted off.
The next day was possibly one of the laziest days of my life. We literally watched film after film such as the Grinch, Greece and youth in revolt. Our Christmas dinner was a slight disaster. We tried to heat up the chicken in the grill but one of the legs got caught and went on fire!! But still tasted good. And we were simply too lazy to cook the carrots and broccoli that we had bought. So we quite literally just picked at the chicken carcus. Very prehistoric.
It was a wonderful Christmas day though and one I will remember for at least a while simply because of how unchristmassy it was.
Now, I'm just looking forward to new year in only a few day!!
